Yes there were gusts of 59mph here.
The dog kennel rolled over but she was not in it  :D
I moved it in the log shed, in case it broke up and bits hit the windows.
Seems to have subsided now anyway and getting cooler again.

Lull before the storm. Just gone from clear sky and a light breeze to completely cloud over, moderate rain and a strong gale in about ten minutes.

Going by the latest forecast from the beeb its looking touch and go as to whether we'll see any temporary snow in the morning before the milder air moves up from the south

Some pretty poor conditions here at the moment with persistent heavy rain and lots of surface water.

Some minor flooding likely in prone areas.

Oddly we have been more or less dry all afternoon but wind is getting strong and gusty.

It will rain for an hour or two soon.
Winds look like being a real worry again late tomorrow and Saturday.

Yes it's hard to believe at times, when 60 miles to the west is so extremely wet.
The wind is actually drying things up to some extent.
Several gusts to about 58mph so far.
I have my WX station set to beep when it tops 50mph - which is when damage starts to get likely.
I may have to turn that off it's getting annoying...

No rain to speak of here since last night, but it goes without saying the wind is very strong and the gusts are quite something.

Fences and roof tiles are going to be weakened or damaged from this impressive storm.

Well, still no rain to speak of here all day. Spits in the gusty winds and that's it.

That must be why the NW and Cumbria are getting flooded, the rain appears to be disappearing over the Penines. Amazed that the forecasters last night predicted heavy rain here all day.

The joys and perils of weather forecasting I suppose!

Interesting day coming up on Saturday, and maybe some falling snow down to modest levels if the precipitation is heavy enough.
