I got some footage on my camera phone! Just waiting for it to upload to Youtube. That was brilliant! Still going but not as intense.

Beauty of an update from EURO4!!

That pretty much puts the nail in the coffin for this side of the Pennines, just as I thought. Gutted.

Might be my lot for the night....amazing lightning, mostly strobe IC but occasional awe inspiring CGs. Little disappointed there was no earth shattering thunder, but I can go to sleep tonight a happy moosch!!! Will evaluate footage over the weekend and post some of it....might need some training using my camcorder.

You people further north are in for a serious treat :D

You can see the Bournemouth storm on sat24's latest update, it absolutely explodes on the latest picture. What a monster. Nothing in the NW. Can see distant flashing over the coast of Blackpool. Nothing inland and only hear a faint rumble of the biggest strikes.

bournemouth storm,

it came as fast as it went, lasting about 45 mins.

3 or 4 decent cracks of thunder with the same 3 or 4 decent lightning flashes,

3 or 4 mins of moderate hail,

very disappointing really, but probably the best we have had in 7 years so can't complain, good luck to all waiting for something.

dramatically over hyped and reported on.

I don't honestly know what that Bournemouth/Wiltshire cell is doing! It's going crazy.

Can anyone around Bristol see lightning, and if so how frequent is it?

It's to my south (about 30 miles now) Scott, and it's kicking out lightning like its on amphetamines!....there's another closer (but considerably weaker) storm to my SW that's throwing out lightning every 20-30 seconds or so

Lots of lightning in the anvil of this storm system which I judge by radar to be pretty much over my location ; there are some flashes still pretty much overhead alongside frequent to the SE as it begins to batter Salisbury.
