Off to Central Europe (Germany down to Croatia) for 3 weeks from 28th July so hopefully a decent chance of seeing more like tonight. :)

What's the situation in Barnsley? Will it have woke my Mother up yet?

Give it half hour and it will do

Could do with that rain ahead of the Anglesey storm fading away in order to get some photos of the lightning!

It's almost on me now. Epic forks and frequent flickering.

Last 2 hours have been great. Lots of lightning, all elevated and a torrential downpour. Cell to the east in the last hour has produced a lot of active lightning. Uttoxeter towards Tamworth and up towards Derby must have copped it in the last hour. The light show to my east was Brillant about 45 minutes ago. I can hear planes overhead and the lightning has dwindled so I'd presume that's that. Decent night though.

Wish we'd had some fork lightning and a direct thunder clap. But can't moan.

:wallbash:  :wallbash:  :wallbash:  :wallbash:  :wallbash:  :wallbash:

Proper windstorm wouldnt pull the englerlish out of bed but a baby thunderstorm will :wallbash:  :bomb:  :bomb:  :bomb:

Jealous much? I'll have a spectacular thunderstorm with beautiful lightning and shotgun thunder then a windstorm where most gusts are just a wet fart to be honest.

tbh, it looks like the bands are fizzling out a bit. the strike rate has dropped to less than 30 pm, they were at over 100 when over Birmingham!

Hope Gordon had survived thus far, not had it that bad in Leicester, but my stomach is churning big style, throbbing head and that awful smell I get when there's lightning about, right at the back of my nose and below the eyes, anyone else get that "smell sensation" when it's lightning?

yep I'm still here and it all looks to have cleared north from my location

still fun and games for those further north

Well, that was amazeballs tonight! Still can't believe we were lucky enough to get two cells in secession- one to either side of us.

My bit of footage has finally finished uploading to Youtube. Not great quality as it was shot on my phone, but hopefully it'll give a feel of what the first cell to our east was like. You can hear our neighbour at about a minute in- he was asking if I was taking a selfie!

A couple of hours worth that really delivered at times, great to see multiple strikes and subsequent loud crackling and booming thunder. Monsoonal rains too. That cleared out the gutters a bit lol. Great storms far better than i'd generally expected and oh flip look at the time!
