Storm & Convective Discussion - 02/07/15 Onward - Heat & Plumes

And where is our potential coming from.....there's nowt downwind for miles and miles, the nearest storms will go east of here. Birmingham is about to get pummelled then up into NE Midlands.

if they're supercells torque will pull them East , that's the law ....

I don't think I can justify the drive E to intercept the cell heading for the E mids due to the very late night, lack of sleep and work tomorrow

So disheartening having nothing coming to me whilst seeing all the reports in here

Over 16,000 strikes in the UK already tonight.  Not sure what the record is, but very impressive all the same!

Holy sheet that was good. Massive deluge and about a dozen close strikes. Eased off a bit now.

No rain here! But a very nice show nonetheless. More please!

Not much in the way of thunder here, but there's been a nice light show for the past hour or so, looking to the north.

Ah lads, any chance of the storms turning sharp left for Ireland? I moved here three years ago, one reason is there seemed to be a good chance of storms here, rather than the Surrey Storm Shield, which I see now is just about invisible for strike icons!  stained glass window's sake! Hope youre enjoying it all. As if I need a storm, Ive just got in from finishing a show garden at a flower show and dont need me dahlias smashed up by the wind!

Not sure of a nightly record, but I remember us having over 80,000 strikes on 23rd July 2013.
