Have issued an update to my earlier convective outlook issued this morning and extended until 12z Saturday with slight changes on the forecast map

 

JUST HEARD FIRST RUMBLE OF THUNDER IN CROYDON, FLASHY, FLASHY!

... 22z UPDATE ...

Not too much change from the previous outlook issued this morning for tonight/Sat morning storm potential. Elevated storms have developed in the last few hours from Ac cas across Wales, NW England, off the west English Channel across Dorset and IoW aswell as Sussex recently, as shortwave trough moving in from the SW engages warm/moist plume advecting NW across Sern/central Britain. Despite large amounts of CAPE associated with warm moist plume flooding NW out of France. Have maintained SLIGHT risk over much of England and Wales and extended it further north across N England and general storm risk further north into Scotland, given storms will be generally elevated in nature, though given large amounts of elevated CAPE, will be capable of producing isolated large hail, isolated damaging wind gusts and a more widespread risk torrential rain leading to flash flooding. Storms are still expected, as per evening model guidance, to expand in coverage across S England before moving N and NE across Midlands and E England, with storms also expanding NE from Wales and NW England, perhaps reaching parts of Scotland during Saturday morning.

I'm pretty sure I can hear the faintest thunder, though I may be crazy!

I am under 2 big anvils all of a sudden - occasional lightning :yahoo:

 

Looking towards you from Greenhithe, can see the flashes of that cell in the distance. :)

Well basically forecast is bust with everything much further west than predicted by a long way.

A dry night coming up.

This post must be reverse psychology, or you've not looked at the forecast, precip models or the radar at all. Plenty of action further south tracking northwards at the moment :) Have faith!

lightning strike spotted in the far distance looking south from Rushden, Northamptonshire! deffo was a strike for sure, a good 60  - 70 miles away.

Sheffield and Yorkshire as a whole wasn't forecast anything until the small hours of the morning. These warm front storms are a bit of a bonus really. Please read the forecasts on here!
