TORRO posted on facebook approx 1 hour ago this image showing the rough position of the weather fronts:

Thanks Chris. Would appreciate another update on the CF progress later on if OK with you or if someone else can keep tabs on it, it would be appreciated.

Just been outside to take a look South. Very dark stormy clouds heading right for me, gone very windy, temp showing 19.5C, feels a lot cooler in wind. No flashes seen or thunder heard yet but don't think it's far away..

Hello,

Nice to meet all of you. I am new here and would like to ask a few questions regarding our current storm situation.

Where is the bowling ball size hail?

Where is the F5 500 mph tornado?

On a serious note I only want to see a tornado from a safe distance that doesn't cause any injuries.

Very warm gusty wind and lightning to the SW 5 mins ago. Love it when it gets dark enough to see lightning from a distance.

I'm heading over to Dunstable - the downs look good for views according to google! I'm very close too. Bit worried about storm direction - is it gonna change?

Probably one of the best viewpoints in this part of the country! I suspect position wont matter to much as they are going to start popping up all over in the next few hours

So the little showers and storms forming around the Midlands / North wales atm are on the warm front? Where as the bigger stuff down south is on the cold front

My god the surface charts are a joy, it's not often you get a Warm Front with storms firing on it - Acold front over Devon and the triple point over Nw Wales. Love these Synoptics

Yes warm front storms is interesting. You think the midlands will do well

Three areas of interest right now, all grown in the past half hour

attachicon.gifCapture.JPG

Absolutely. Watching them intensify as they head north. No doubt they'll veer a little NE later, which if they continue to grow and fire off more cells will determine if I stick or twist with regards to chasing tonight.

Pass, the radar captures suggest all cells in our part of the world are moving directly from South to North if that helps.

What charts are you looking at Chris which determine where the CF is?

Seems that way judging by TORRO's diagram. I'm keeping an eye on the channel/Dorset storms as they will likely track close to our locations later on (hopefully with able backup!)

So the fronts are clearly going to occlude north of here now. What does that mean for us south of Manchester? Has the event shifted a bit further north than forecast?

Just been out to check and yes there is a line of strong convection right above my house. Very promising for those just north of me!

And sure enough the first radar returns over Sussex. Not often that you can see strong convection at night, but tonight I witnessed it and for those in the firing line the base of the convection that I witnessed was not too high....
