That big mass is slowly heading NE, not NW towards the UK.

Definitely not heading NE it looks like only extreme SE is in with a chance say Margate - it is taking a more NNW turn thus East Essex are in with a shout here.

You're interfering with my straw-clutching :nonono:

I can't possibly allow facts or observation to get in the way.

No I think you are right. The band north of London  is swinging in a NW direction. This new band will also circulate the low anticlockwise ie NWesterly for a time.

Main cells seem to be further east now and pos only easy kent and suffolk getting main hit.

However Village I think your best straw clutch is home grown ones later tonight.

Dammit... I was getting so excited. Now Medway are going to miss out? :(

From that bad boy in North France at the moment, yes. I'd say it won't even be a Kent clipper. But homegrown is always a possibility.

I don't know guys: the cloud still looks SE - even though the rain might be heading in a different direction (a consequence of outflow boundaries, and the clouds are just not big enough to precipitate, yet)

Here's the sat pics,

I think it's going to be Madam Secretary then bed for me

... and note the cluster around Paris: that's certainly got Medway/Kent's name on it,

And just to demonstrate that I am considering all possible straw-clutching scenarios, I've found this bad-boy. Must be about the size of Wales,

It might be here next week sometime.

Decent tower has gone up to my south-east. Picked up nicely on radar too...

It is heading towards Clacton :help:

Far SE may be left with the light rain being the extreme western extent of the mass unless it changes course fast certainly inbound for the UK.

We had a few distant rumbles earlier. Those storms in NE France may clip the extreme east.

More interested from an IMBY perspective on the blob around Le Harve. Not electric yet but has potential

Still plenty of interest,

Circled just suddenly appeared, which looks a bit weird, and the odd polygon is all heading towards the SE

One would expect it to swing a little west,

But even if it does, now, it's only North Kent, Essex etc. More likely is that it's going to go it's own way directly north into the North Sea. I am out of straws to clutch. Just a slight one - more like a fragment of hay, than a straw proper - is that outflow boundaries appear to have been observed, and therefore the cloud mass which is coming our way is building, just not precipitating, yet; but will do soon.

That's a bit of a long shot, though.

Well I have to say I didn't enjoy that storm at all this morning. In 27 years of delivering the post I've never been so scared (apart from massive spiders). Almost constant lightning for about 2 hours and torrential downpours. Thought I was going to get fried.

Met Office still going for heavy rain in Medway,

post-5986-0-27637600-1439483507_thumb.pn

I suppose the sun had best go in soon, given that there's only 29 minutes to go to 6pm. 90% chance of rain at 8pm: maybe that's the Paris blob.
