I'm sure me and my daughter are hearing distant rumbles, not sure how, those storms are miles away. Not very loud but defo sounds like thunder.

I'm not sure they're that far away now, so you may well have! Take a look at the latest Lightning Radar and you can see a marked development in the number of storms and how far they have progressed across the Channel since earlier this evening. They will be making landfall in the UK in the next couple of hours I would estimate.

Morning all!

Watched for the meteor shower but even though it was clear I saw nothing.

Clouded over now. Just awaiting impending weather and being awoken by screaming doggie!

Just got awoken by rain, on flash and rumble and a very muggy atmosphere. Blitzertung showing some lightening activity near us but the main area hasn't reached us yet.

No more T&L at this point, just rain.

The rain is light and almost drizzly. Not like a Plume at all. :nonono:

Oops what happened :/

My thoughts exactly!! Got up this morning and there seems to be an invisible barrier across the middle of the Channel that's stopping the storms making any progress north!

Oh well, the models were always saying that this evening and overnight tonight would bring the better chance for storms in our Region. However, I have to say, both Carol's forecast on the beeb this morning, and this morning's NMM precipitation charts for this evening, suggest a tad less severe event than earlier forecasts were suggesting. So I hope this evening isn't a complete disappointment!!

The case of the disappearing rain on the radar. One minute heavy rain approaching me an then it vanished.

I will be surprised if Milton Keynes even gets a shower.

Can't we move our country closer to Northern France? :-p

I was thinking this, imagine if there was land between us and France and no water..

Then I thought to myself actually NAH..

Just think how dangerous those storms could get if they fired and had all that land to travel over before slamming into London, would be a disaster..

Not to mention, it wouldn't be the easiest of borders to control either

Storms have now reached the coast of Sussex and from the number of strikes firing off in the Channel, it could be an interesting morning down there. Kent must surely be in the firing line for later this morning.

Looks like a very hit and miss situation again today. Had about 20 mins light rain about 5.30 and that's been it even though BBC App for me says rain every hour between 8am-8pm(mixture of heavy & light rain tbf).Very odd. Incredibly humid though and currently 18 degrees

Woke up to dark, cloudy morning, it's amazing how loud planes sound when listening out for thunder. Dry as a bone here and the good old bedford breeze, but it looks like nothing going to reach me, oh well.

wow looks like that low didn't come north as thought as the rain hasn't even come, in fact if you look at sat 24 you can see it's still centered at biscay.

Now that is a huge fail by every model not just the met, blimey.

It is slowly moving North, you can see this by the sat and that storms are very slowly moving more north

Just thought would butt in and inform of very heavy rain here in Brighton for the last hour thunder last night and for the last hour no sign of let up at the moment, very dark, very wet, and I need to go out  :shok: been trying to delay it asap but looks like getting a soaking is inevitable today!!

I know I can hear them already, louder than last nights cause the cloud is over head, sound of thunder seem to travel through cloud pretty well. Sounds interesting at the min. No rain yet though.

Actully looking at radar an isolated cell has popped up pretty near, I think it's moving west of me  though, think I'm hearing that.
