I've heard one +ve strike in my life, the thunder just went bang, and it was the loudest thunder I have ever heard. Had close strikes loads of times but never like this one. The storm was moving away and it came out of the back.

Sounds like ours - just a massive bang.

I could be wrong but I think that there are noctilucent clouds in the night sky tonight. Certainly look like them.

I reckon you could be right... :D  A surprisingly good skyscape at the moment here - it caught my eye.

It was going to be dry on Sunday, then it was going to rain instead, then it was going to be dry again, now it is going to rain. Nevermind, had the barbecue tonight instead, so it can do what it wants now come Sunday.

The weather seems to be stuck in a pattern of low pressure moving up from the SW, spewing rain and misery to the west, northwest and Scotland. In turn sucking up humid air from the south which brings the SE days of humidity, before the atlantic air manages to spread to us too. We seem to get storms once a week and any rain from the atlantic, vanishes by the time it gets here. I am averaging a mm of rain a week, even with thunderstorms. It's all a bit tedious really,  need some proper rainfall now, haven't cut the grass for a month because it's dead and most of the plants aren't thriving on tap water. Had a lot of sunshine though this summer and after a cool start, things have warmed up. Will this pattern continue through to winter :unknw: hope not. :drinks:

BBC going for a dry afternoon in our region tomorrow afternoon with even sunny sky's north of London. I'll take that.

Had so much rain from those storms Thursday night, so much so the fields and woodlands were bogged yesterday on the dog walk!

Stay away rain, I have enough of you come October!

A sunny and very fresh morning here, 13C currently. Looks like being a warm-ish day with sunny spells, pleasant enough for enjoying outdoors. Will be doing that shortly on the allotment and then later celebrating a friends birthday using my new drinks tower dispenser with an 'ice core'. Holds 3 litres lol, Lord knows what state we'll be in later as I want to fill it with Prosecco!!

NIce fresh sunny morning so far with a nice breeze, little in the way of that humidity feel as yet.

A lovely day here, just a little fair weather cloud bubbling up. temperatures into the low twenties here.

A high of 25C possible today I think. Another perfect Saturday weather wise.

And another poor Sunday to follow! Almost every Sunday this summer seems to be below average

Nice day today in London though, cloud increasing and a cooling breeze but can't complain

Just back from taking one of my dogs to the vets and on the way took this photo at Wenham, Suffolk. Sums up the weather here nicely - a beautiful day with a refreshing breeze and currently 20.9C.

Could Norwich be the warmest for the second successive day?

Nice late summer photo.

Pics like that always remind me that autumn is just round the corner.

A nice Summery picture Malcolm. :) It reminds me that benign can be just as evocative as dramatic.

Your comment would be more appropriate in a month's time IMHO - mid July??

It means its the "harvest scene", which is associated with the ending of summer.

It does mean it can be any time from mid July  to mid Sept, so yes you may think its early, however its the overall picture.

If you have kids, in a very short while you might wish it was late summer, lol...

Just seen a UFO, not saying it's aliens, (must be aliens!) :shok:But it was not something normal, that's for sure. None of us have been on the alcopops either. :shok: Oh and the alien invasion night weather, cloudy, breezy, 16c with rain drops in the air. Off to hide in the cellar now *shiver*

Are you sure it wasn't a low flying bap, possibly from a neighbours BBQ ?

Lovely day here, hopefully there will be several weeks of summer left to enjoy :-)

If it was, it had a flashing light on it too. :shok:  I'm sure summer hasn't finished with us, especially down south. :good:
