Anyone seen that stuff over France? If that's on course for us I would say that would arrive in the early hours. BBC not forecasting anything until tomorrow afternoon. It's really oppressive out there this evening certainly has that feel about it we shall see

Just turned on radio 5 live, they are talking about the insanity up north, so I turned it off again. Jealousy got the better of me.

Not remotely stormy here, the wind is quite cold. Calling a bust in advance for tomorrow and Friday night/Saturday. Rain only.

Newcastle round 3 in a couple of hours. Hat-trick? You wouldn't bet against it!

very good display,   multiple flashes from different directions , few close cg, far too many flashes to count,  still seeing frequent  distant lignting to the north east

Thought the NW never had storms? Doing much better than the Midlands!

Tell me about it - It was fantastic watching it approach from over Mcr - and then it broke overhead - went out with the loudest clap of thunder and it's just passing to the north now - still flashing away every second or so.

The radar shows it developed by church stretton and built over town and really got going on approaching Whitchurch. It's now a massive cluster of storms heading north (Sod's law). It showed strikes South of town and one in battlefield, but no rain at all other than a few spots.

We were 20 to far south for a biggy, but by anyone's standard it was a storm that passed over town, and lightening did strike. within the town,

I'm in Bomere Heath and didn't see any lightning at all. It looked to be over towards Shawbury way, can't see how it could get from town to Whitchurch and miss us'

After cloudy nothing all day, were feeding everywhere else and getting nothing.

The loop shows that area literally exploding. It has the IoW all over it!  :diablo:

IOW is always having it ;)

100% MCS always does blow me away the sheer size they can swell, last year the one in Germany/Belgium was like a mothership. I have not had a proper storm in over 8 months pray to the Gods!

Fingers crossed! The city seems to do quite well for storms considering how far north we are, and the general lack of hot weather compared with the rest of England; the storms often seem to intensify as they push up from the S/SW over the Durham Pennines.

The storm in Bay of Biscay seems to detect a few sferics ahead of the main storm! Hopefully it doesn't veer east.

Aswell does anyone known if the Bay of Biscay storm is Surface-Based or Elevated?
