Last Autumn I think it was, a supercell tracked from roughly the Bristol area all the way up to The Wash and into the North Sea. Supercells can last a hell of a long time and travel a bloody long way.

October 11th last year a storm came into Norfolk and over Norwich, it was a supercell for a brief amount of time however the storm lasted a good 3 hours. Thats a short one :) I still need to put the radar loop together, it took a right turn to go over Norwich then as it got passed it went back to its original track and into the North sea.

I just like the idea of american style severe thunderstorm warnings with tracks etc.

I should imagine it's not economically viable in the uk, we do not get the severity of storms the States does.

Just watched that storm roll over my house I've never seen hail like it before in UK before

Very well defined on satellite.

Let's just keep our fingers crossed for Friday night/early Saturday, JH...if the charts still look like this Tomorrow night I'll be a seriously happy bunny (providing it triggers!!)...otherwise in 2015 it's three plumes, no cigar.

I hope it happens. I have yet to experience one of these south eastern storms that people are always complaining about on here!

Watching that storm from Hasland, Chesterfield, you can clearly see the clouds light up with lots of lightening streaks also visible towards the West

Great viewing

There are a lot of leaves and branches lying in the garden now thanks to the hail. Thankfully the car windscreen survived!!
