Realistically if a organised storm had a good energy supply (air/moisture, etc) how long could they rumble on for? Are there any UK records or is this type of thing not recorded?

I say this only because of that amazing storm in the BoB. Could it sustain itself up towards the UK given the right conditions?

Can someone confirm this storms structure my car is currently being pounded and I mean pounded by chunks of ice!!

Got videos of this I have never ever seen anything like it my car is taking some battering

Its important to remember that this is a supercell and likely severe within its core. Please those in its path be cautious and be safe.

When I stick my head out of the window, I can just about hear the most distant, distant thunder that you can possibly hear.

Last Autumn I think it was, a supercell tracked from roughly the Bristol area all the way up to The Wash and into the North Sea. Supercells can last a hell of a long time and travel a bloody long way.

Thunder in the NW Midlands where it's been cooler than here. Arrgghhh. Hopefully the approaching trough/cold front is starting new activity.

Really? How far west of Notts? Wold like something to develop reasonably close to here to I can get to a vantage point and watch the lightning. These NW storms are a little too far away.

Can hear the distant rumbling from the storm west of Stoke & seeing occasional lightning. If only it was 10 miles further East!

Looking more closely, there's a lot more lightning than is showing on the lightning maps detector.

Cheers mate - street is like the Tyne the houses at the bottom are beginning to flood now - that was a once in a lifetime for me I have never seen a hail like that and certainly not heard about it in Tyne and Wear.

Thank you Nick L for your answer - the BoB storm seems to be taking a much quicker turn to the right now, perhaps that could be a Supercell? I will be watching it in case it 'splits'

Strikes me how serious these storms are but no warnings from the met office.

Dont depend on it. Everything is starting North from where we are. It's a shame, cause storms were forecast for my area.

I'm right on the southern edge of Barnsley so can get to the Peaks very easily for a decent view west, if any storms fire a little closer. Hoping the cold front can initiate something nearer but we're running out of time. Still enjoyable to radar watch and read all the stormy reports though! :D
