Not sure why it's sideways! but this impressive cloud is east of me probably over Nottingham.

Can hear rumbling also but I have a feeling it will skirt by me to my West although these small storms can be a little unpredictable.

Not going to complain much after seeing today's storm though!

Exactly mate plenty of energy there but it as moving north then appeared to move more northeast on last radar return -

Can someone in the Newcastle area please try to get a picture whilst the storm rolls Northbound and you are east of it, best time to take the pic is when most of the Storm is too your North West.

I know its a Supercell with what is being reported on here with the anvil etc, the hail, the height, the conditions, the radar grabs.

But just to confirm for the doubters, a picture would be epic!

I've got a mate in Prudhoe who might get one hell of a show shortly.

Our next potential is tomorrow morning and friday evening, so still a few chances yet.  :)

I hope so!! I'm thinking of moving to Newcastle just so I can get some decent storms!! There's a anti storm shield around Weymouth, probably scared of Portland ;-)

Fingers, toes, the lot all crossed :D

I am however firmly sceptical of any real thunderstorm threat tomorrow...certainly any that is going to last that long. One of the NMM models does suggest a modest 500-700j/kg CAPE returning across the SE during tomorrow, though GFS disagrees on this point.

The one in 2011 looked like dead duck, until the cold front came through...We must keep the faith! :D

At the moment the sky is like a thick pea soup mammatus and constant flickering but you can see a black outline in what I think would be called the edge of an anvil but not that experienced.  I have pics just need to work out how to upload!!

I'm detecting a hook on the rear flank (SW corner) of the storm approaching Durham...heavily pixelated radar returns...would anticipate there being large hail also in there.
