Absolutely scorching here, not a cloud in the sky. Still looks as though we are too far south for any storms today, which is a shame since later on today the cape values are huge!

A long way to go yet though! Good luck everyone

All that energy is being wasted here. It's completely overcast now

Approaching 30C in Leeds with some more noticeable clouds to the west.  Very, very sticky out there.

So according to that, I'm at risk of a tornado at 16:00? Somehow I don't buy that, to be honest...

A couple of very large Cu-Nim's seen to my North, building very very rapidly, sure to be some action under them shortly, circa 15-20 miles away

I was quite disappointed as previously it looked as if there was big potential Friday midday, however it has reduced the northward extent of the instability allowing overnight imports and potential in eastern areas Saturday too.

This always subject to change. 90F plus temps here and over the channel is a heady combination. Much to play for and as always storms are mighty difficult to predict, no better example than today as isolated cells developed from nothing.

All eyes towards France Thurs/Friday on.

The tornado risk comes from any surface-based convection which will have a uplift speed of 25m/s, no guarantee that any tornadoes will occur but given the environment any that potentially do have the risk of being potent.

34'c Heathrow at 11:30? Like come on when is that ever possible!? Got a feeling it'll reach 38, half a degree of the all time record...

Just like that! Storm out of nowhere NW of Oxford. Good signs for us that are abit further south than the main risk zone

It'll probably be one of those mini ones. Get low to the ground, you might just hear it squeaking along!

Does anyone have too much sun at their location and want some cloudy relief?

I have ample cloud cover, and will swap you.

The key period is supposed to be 16:00 onwards, so to see storms breaking out now, especially south, is good news for us up here.

That storm that went up over the Stow on the Wold was not on the radar at 11.05 and was going mental by 11.40.... its about the fourth/fifth storm that's developed from nothing within in around half an hour today (Lancaster, Knighton, west of Newcastle, and one in scotland)... just shows, that anywhere could suddenly see something like this develop very quickly.

They have all been quite short lived thus far today though.

East Birmingham next in line for the Stow on the Wold storm if it hold together. Derby does look good if it lasts, its growing to the east...

Rapidly developing cells in the Scottish Borders now heading North. Two cells appearing on the V4 radar, one approaching Edinburgh from the south, the other East Lothian/eastern borders
