Humid warm and sky looks quite milky and unstable here this morning. Always a good sign bit never a guarantee that something will kick off.

I think with today's heat, thunderstorms could break out pretty much anywhere from the places they foretasted to as far over as Cambridgeshire and down to London.

99% sure I just heard a distant rumble of thunder here, from that development to the SW!

Edit: Looks like I did ^ :)

Stifling here, sun is blazing now and Acas floating about.

Latest NMM looking a little disappointing for southeasterners, barring perhaps some imports through the morning across C/S areas (as currently charted). NMM then wants to kill this off by late morning/lunchtime leaving us high and dry.

All going to be resting on Friday night and through Saturday morning, which MetO are now calling "thundery showers" rather the potentially severe thunderstorms yesterday.

Don't phase me, sun sun and more sun!  :yahoo:

I'm pretty sure the lady on ITV said some could be quite severe, she was talking about tomorrow morning down here, just a passing comment though.

I am liking somewhere around Manchester as a good spot for later this afternoon, the risk then expanding north and east from this area through the evening and night. I may drive towards Lancashire after lunch.

Heathrow already 29C. This is unusual for the UK, amazing stuff

I'm at Cannon Street and it is extremely warm already! Skies clear after earlier Ac - 35C could be breached I feel unless French mess invades.

In fact it feels as warm now as it did at 2-3pm yesterday (though that could be the humidity)

I'm hoping for something later on, the air feels right for a storm, already over 25C and it's 9:20am, sun is blazing. I know some forecasts said that heating would be a major factor in storm generation today, which the Sun is easily providing this morning!

Going to be some rather contented storm lovers as the day progresses. Temps are still soaring and as the more unstable air mass makes further inroads some big fireworks are highly likely for some. Spanish plume associated fireworks.

Shows how fast things can develop today at 9.05am... netweather extra 5 minute radar was totally clear around Lancaster, by 9.20 a small discreet storm has blown up and is producing the goods....

Cloudless here in Doncaster now but lots of AcCas in Beverley this morning streaming in from the SE, even some with precipitation shafts over the Vale of York but this didn't appear to be reaching the ground.

Warm and sultry now (no weather station at work sadly) and the temperature must be rising rapidly. Let's see what happens later.

Enjoy the show, or the sunshine: there will be no losers today either way!
