I have memories of great storms, during Spanish plumes, the storms would march up through bay of biscay and west france

they brush that english channel aside, and continue on north, without weakening

it'll happen again one day, just have to be patient

Nice weather for non-waterproof things :-)

Edit: change that to 'nice weather for non-electrically-shielded things'

I wonder if this event will be more typical of recent Spanish plumes where everything just kicks off after dark? The energy is there, so a bit of destabilisation is all we need to set everything off.

I think that's the problem there appears to be no energy....things are kicking off but die almost immediately something is missing....Shame

There is still a cold front to come of course, perhaps it may act as the required trigger? Its hard not to be pesimistic about that looking at this evening and todays events, however you just never know!

Post from Tony Gilbert on UKWW : Thunderstorms may continue for a while in the SE but the low level atmospheric conditions suggest stability spreading out in all directions.

Had a few heavy but distantrumbles here and according to Netweather radar, a few flashes around further north, though I haven't seen any as have been looking at the computer screen instead! Grey cloud and very heavy rain, nothing much to see. Again according to radar it seems to be growing or intensifying but normally in this area they tend to die out, therefore it is trying, but not getting anywhere really...

Yep Tony Gilbert carefully but very accurately just hammered the final nail into the coffin of this plume.

Nada. Again.

One to remember when everyone gets too carried away with it next time. I'm off for a pint and then home.

It was fun for a while at 4pm though...

:-)

The coffin was in the ground the moment the 'H' word slipped from Carols lips this morning

I forgot to add a picture which I think perfectly portrays the events of the 'Massive And Widespread Severe Thunderstorm Breakout Of The 12th June 2015':

(Edit: wrong year!)
