Sky is turning quite dark in South Essex now. Essex weather seem to think this will be rain rather than storms.

Without even reading a single post just looking at ATD rain radar and some charts I say absolutely (as usual) is going to happen here!

The Beeb are going with "thundery showers" along the south coast one directly west of me, one  directly east for 9pm.

I guess orographic uplift courtesy of the North and South Downs have got something to do with that...

This lovely phenomenon is what we get after heavy rain!!! Like the trees are breathing a sigh of relief with the water. I have seen this in the Yorkshire Dales, but nowhere else...I know it's just rapid evaporation, but it's lovely!

So judging by the radar things have finally kicked off in the SE and its still moving in a NNW direction oxfordshire could be a good place to set up if they continue there strength

Oh dear! The level 2 should be over London.

why?....the storms nr london don't warrant a level 2, and the warning is more excessive rainfall in the west country, which might well happen..

 

 

anyhoos, looking at the radar, the words 'better late than never' spring to mind.....some nice thunderstorms have developed and are continuing to develop over West/east sussex and kent...these look likely to drift north westwards during the evening, so still hope for some

decided to wait to see if I can hear any thunder yet as can't see any towers

Load of poo as usual, with sst's cool no chance of surface storms not even elevated storms coupled with temp's that have not maxed out for most.........diabolical !!
