Some decent spells of sunshine, ruined yet again by that stupid wind which just won't stop gusting. Seems like we just can't get one without the other this month.

Will be the first spring since 1986 not to reach 20C if the last 3 days don't manage it.

June even worse, equivalent of a child of nadine (mon and tues) shocker on the way, gales, non stop rain and 10C

Actually a much better day than expecting as it's been generally sunny I got in from work but even in that sunshine could not get above 13.5c thanks to the never ending 20mph+ howler!

Charts finally showing a warm spell later next week yay! of course the ECM already showing a washout by next Sunday though so i'd say that sounds legit!

A cold wet morning since 07:00.

Temperature fallen slightly in the rain from 9.0C to 8.2C

The rain had a crescendo about 10:00, with a 2 minute spell of heavy rain and bouncing hail. Since then it slowly died out.

Finally looking a bit brighter.  7.5mm fallen. Great ,as I have put all my veg in the garden in the last 2 days and they were looking a bit droopy!!

Picking up nicely now though!    :)  :)  :) .

Some fantastic charts popping up for late next week, just hoping it doesn't end up grey and cool for the weekend (ala GFS 12z).

Felt pretty raw and autumnal today,, sunny evening but only 10.5c which with that neverending breeze feels decidedly November like.

ECM and GFS showing some incredibly charts for next weekend this morning, 28c+ with bags of thundery potential = ideal.

In the meantime, not to awful a morning, plenty of cloud popped up already but this few days has been sunnier at least, Autumn reigns on though only 11c..

If the charts verify, we could indeed see some impressive extremes next week. Cold, wet and windy at the start then hot, humid, and potentially stormy by the end.

I can't stand excessive humidity normally, but it's a price worth paying if it means we see some decent thundery activity.

LOL charts already finding ways to blast heatwave away for next weekend, willing to bet it will be 25c+ Friday whilst in work then end up 15c and misty with a Cheshire Gap north westerly drizzly fest for the weekend.

00Z GFS shows just that, one off hot day on Friday, 27C, then Cheshire gap winds, 14C max for Sat 6th

Ridiculous isn't it, knew it was coming, just can't get a weekend day above 15c this year let alone sun on a Sunday!!!! what a joke.

For June I'm hoping for lots of thundery activity and plenty of Spectacular night lightning.....come on we can all live in hope  :D

The 90's there were some good storms but I feel there are fewer lightning storms in the UK than there were in my youth in the 80s but then again the frequency of thunderstorms doesn't vary much over the years.  However, the frequency does vary across different parts of the country.  So, if you have moved to an area of lower incidence (chart below) that would be one explanation for the sense of them being less frequent.

But i recall some Spectacular night lightning during the mid 80's and the sultry nights that go with it, that's one thing i don't like.

Yes tomorrow looks for an interesting afternoon/evening. With gales and severe gales for some, Meto have issued warnings.

Just want Friday's mini heatwave/stormfest to vanish now as GFS has it piling in a cool showery weekend, need the low as north as possible so high pressure rebuilds!

The threat of gales later continues with a slight upgrade, Maybe touching 65/70mph over parts with over 50mm rain for my location. Should be interesting for the time of year..

An unseasonably windy spell is likely across many parts of the UK later on Monday, overnight and well into Tuesday, as active frontal systems sweep across the UK. An initial swathe of southerly gales accompanied by heavy rain will move east across many parts later on Monday, giving gusts of 40-50 mph widely but 60-70 mph across exposed Irish Sea and perhaps some English Channel coasts. Winds will become west or southwesterly on Tuesday, with further gusts to 40-50 mph more locally, before gradually easing later. Large waves will affect some coasts in the west and south at times.

Given the unseasonable nature of the winds, the public should be aware of the potential for disruption to transport and outdoor activities. Damage to some trees seems likely.

This is an update to the warning to bring forward the start time, cover the rest of England in the yellow area and also to increase gust speeds through the Irish Sea. A powerful jet stream stretching across the Atlantic into the UK will steer a number of active weather systems across the UK during Monday and Tuesday. A front will cross from the west on Monday and Monday night bringing 20-40 mm of rain to northern and western areas along with gales, severe on some coasts and hills. The windy weather will be maintained well into Tuesday by a vigorous depression crossing northern Scotland. Developments are complex so there is still some uncertainty in the detail, especially by Tuesday, and this warning will be kept under review.
