GFS shows it turning completely grey and grotty tomorrow whilst BBC forecast shows clear skies hmmm?? not sure whether to just head for the coast.

Really frustrating day, got up to 18C which sounds reasonable until I add it was 15C at 9am. Why won't this cloud just get lost? It looked to be breaking this morning but came back, almost the whole country seems to be affected yet there is no depression nearby. Just May 2015 curse again I suppose...

Because TM airmasses are generally cloudy, better hope for cooler sunnier airmasses.

Cooler air masses cloudy here to, a sea of stratocumulus pops up by 9am and doesn't dissipate until 6pm.

Need combination of dry continental air and somehow dodge the North Sea murk to get a truly clear day here during Summer.

Rain on and off the past 2 hours here despite nothing on the radar, a muggy 17c, still not sure for tomorrow, GFS has that classic 09:00-18:00 cloud swamp popping up, BBC clear and sunny...hmm

Is it a real TM though? They normally involve lows spinning just west of the UK, blowing clouds, fronts etc in from the SW while the SE corner escapes. This one has a high to the south/SW it seems like that anomalously cool water in the Atlantic might have something to do with the cloud and lack of high maxima this month?

A real deluge of a storm for about 5/10 minutes around about 5pm as I was walking my pups. Felt very muggy today with dewpoints as high as 17c. Was not surprised that we got a storm ,but surprised that we got one of the bingo showers of the day! 3mms fell in just a few minutes,,,

Looks like the GFS has won the battle against the BBC with regards to the weather conditions for today. Mind you, I suppose should the cloud start giving up the ghost later this afternoon to leave some sunnier conditions, then perhaps the BBC may not end up being totally wrong with its sunny outlook. Otherwise, it looks like 1 - 0 to the GFS.

Line of muck spread NW-SE across the middle of the country, clear either side, horrible. Not North Sea grot or frontal so whats it doing there? This month is turning into a total pig, warm airmasses are cloudy, clear ones windy, convective ones freezing cold, its all wrong for May.

It's a weakening cold front.

Horrible grey stagnant mild airmass, absolute filth, bring back the lovely sunny fresh weather of most of May.

tomorrow's filth, today's fine, usual wet Sunday for the north west of this region, your location though probably dry

Brightened up but sun's still not out, pretty draining to be honest seeing that once again next weekend is going to be dire!!!

Is it going to shift then? Hasnt moved all day

The GFS was keen on clearing it, but it doesn't look as though it is clearing as quickly as it suggests (from the satellite imagery)

Sods law JUST as it was finally beginning to break up that swamp of Stratocumulus decided to pop up in Wales out of nowhere then spread out into Shropshire  .

Tomorrow looks like one of those classic Sunday setup's where the weather front dies by midday but the cloud doesn't shift till at least 8pm!!!

be lucky if it dies by then, models/bbc etc always underestimate rain when it moves in from the west, last mon was meant to be light/patchy, clearing by 10am, chucked it down all morning

More like overestimate rainfall from the west, actually monday morning was supposed to be wet and it cleared by the afternoon, models forecasted that well unlike the previous thursday which wasn't as wet as expected in the west midlands.

Not expecting much rainfall here today, looks a very weak front.
