The radar and lightning detector indicates that we are in for a superb evening. However, it's the usual story...everything is everso slowly moving east as the front progresses so a little bit of caution needed. We've been just west enough before to sneak in on the action (3rd July being a spectacular example). Lets see how this pans out. Looks good right now.

I'm not so sure actually. Many storms already seem to be moving NNW to my surprise with little developing to our SE thundery wise so far.

It's moving this way though.

Looking really good now for that lot down near Hereford to come this way!

Although the NW element is a surprise. Lets keep watching and see what happens.

Edit: Hmmm...see what you mean now. Could actually means that Shrewsbury gets it instead?

Storm is only a couple of kms from us now. Approaching rapidly from the south. Constant rumbling.

Models suggested the nw movement wouldn't be till after dark?

Costa Del Fal, looking like you could be right. It does seem to be going to our west. Never say never though, could develop out to the east a bit more.

However, looking increasingly like it's heading directly towards Shrewsbury and Telford. Fingers crossed for them!

we likely to get any thing in warwickshire this evening

Everything has gone further West than expected, so I really am not too sure. If that band of rain to the South turns convective, then there is a good chance. Unfortunately all the convection is to the East at the moment.

According to Netweather, Warwickshire has a decent chance later.

Hmm a little bit disappointed actually as things seem to be dying down earlier than I had thought. Definite NNW movement already to the storms near Hereford then further south just looks a bit of a mess really. Can't see that becoming too thundery. Convection has really stopped here too it seems. Still glad

I had a little something.

That was simply insane! A huge low-hanging long cloud that had fingers down to the hills passed right over us, heading NNW so we got hit full force. Almost constant lightning and thunder. As the cloud reached us all hell broke loose with wind whipping the rain, trees bending, pots blown over, torrential rain. Completely worth having our high elevation view west! Fantastic. Only downer is I had brought in the rain gauge earlier to clean it and hadn't put it back, so no idea how much rain we had.

Just looked out and looks like a load of stratiform muck yet again. Can smell rain, but there's nothing. Birmingham, Hereford, Words, Staffs, Powys, guess which county is getting nothing for the 250th time in the last 10 years?
