Shock horror storm risk basically vanished completely now moved even further south overnight, but of course the weekend washout still centered at it's worst right over Shropshire

Excellent I`ve got a wedding to go to lol.

Next week looks a vast improvement.

As for the thunder maybe Friday night, but depends how far north this comes.

When I lived in Ohio there would be a pattern with systems like this. Almost routine.

1. Big afternoon storms in sultry air ahead of approaching system.

2. Huge cluster of thunderstorms in the evening hours into the night. As the main precipitation moves in.

3. Cold front comes through sometime around midnight-1am..sometimes with a severe squall line.

4. Rest of night is just plain heavy...and fresher rain behind the cold front with thunder risk completely gone.

In theory this system looks similar. However, this isn't Ohio...this is the West Midlands so only number 4 seems certain!

Yes we just seem to get number 4 without 1,2 or 3 beforehand! All those systems that wait till they're east of Birmingham before remembering 1, 2 and 3.

By jove it's a glorious day out there. Wall-to-wall sunshine, a lovely refreshing breeze and the temperature has just reached 22.6°C and still climbing.

It's an odd looking forecast for the next few days, isn't it? More warmth tomorrow, lots of rain later on and into Saturday, genuinely chilly by Sunday before a return to warm and settled conditions next week.

Lovely warm sunny skies returned again now, still managed warmest day of the year to date with a high of 21.5c, just a bit annoying that 15:30-17:30 was covered in mid level muck when I managed to blag finishing half an hour earlier :nonono:  !!!

Some forecasts are predicting highs of up to 26°C for parts of the region later this afternoon. Surely all this cloud cover will prevent temps getting anywhere near that?

A few brighter breaks appearing in the cloud now. Hopefully help to bring temperatures up and perhaps encourage a few storms to develop before a likely more general area of thundery rain creeps in from the South.

Temperature currently approaching 15*C.

It's still predominantly cloudy here, although it's trying to brighten up. Current temp is 18.1°C

I suspect most the fun and games will be to the south and west of here today, but fingers crossed nonetheless.

Started getting a tan going yesterday. Was looking forward to getting some more sun today to top it up....

Sunny first thing today, but cloud invaded a couple of hours ago, and looks in no hurry to shift!

I did warn you a few days back, absolute joke of a heatwave with spots of rain, a poxy 18C here, wore a coat out and it didn't feel too bad.
