Paul Hudson spoke of rain moving up from the South on Friday, so that means they favor ECM over GFS as GFS has precip not getting further North than the midlands. All output looks messy at the moment, so hoping things will be resolved by morning.

Paul Hudson changes like the wind. He's been told to go average as per the norm.

Few flakes in Huddersfield today already.

Difficult to know what to make of it all still. Some excitement in the model thread as you can imagine, but looking at met office website forecast for my nearest station its sayin 4-5c right through from tomorrow to monday. Cant really think of snow at those temps realy, not like how we want it. Bearing in mind thats for a point 200m ASL up the side of the Pennines. If its not going to snow here then you can write off 99% of England lol.

Will just have to wait and see what develops nearer the time :)

I was excited about the NEasterly on Sunday and Monday where models the last few days has suggested the flow along with sub -8c uppers, this has now been downgraded to uppers of around -4 to -6c which just won't cut it for my elevation. Still no decent convection of the North Sea since Dec 2010. Il never give up searching tho!

Local forecast just has light snow or sleet for us. GFS suggest little or nothing for here.

forecast isnt too bad for weekend into next week. A covering for all by sunday night and into monday if this stays like this:

'Yorkshire and Humber

Forecast Summary

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday

Scattered wintry showers Sunday, with heavier showers overnight and perhaps snow settling to lower levels. Becoming windy. Similar on Monday. Dry, cold and frosty Tuesday with sunshine and light winds.'

And then it will be all eyes on weds/thurs to see if we can acheive something more meaningfull....watch this space lol.

Sun night looking quite promising for our region !

I'd be surprised if you didn't have a covering by Monday morning, expecting a 12 hour window 7pm Sunday to 7am Monday of snow showers. image.thumb.jpg.0db443811c90ad069cc4a960

No key for the map but I'm sure you can work it out. Map was designed for my North Yorks Twitter page so your area cut out but would put you in a decent position. Uppers around -7/-8c so would expect snow to lower levels especially in heavy showers.

Areas in red are North York Moors and Yorkshire Wolds, expecting some good accumulations here especially above 200m.

Those further west better hope that these showers pack a punch and head well inland.

Linton Met Office said yesterday we could expect some snow Sunday and Monday but that it would not last much past Tuesday. And we are about 20m asl here.
