Not convinced there will be much here in Leeds. Looks like it will degrade too much. Maybe a dusting later?

The southern flank of this band is decaying, lucky if we will get a great deal from this.

Looks to me looking at the radar that the band is already decaying. Not convinced we will see anything of significance to be honest.

the whole mass of precipitation seems to be slowly breaking up  although its still heading SSE through the spine of England towards Derbyshire. I hate to say it but not sure if this will amount to anything in this area as most of it is dispersing after exiting  the dales and pennine areas. However we do have some snow grains falling here.

but if it holds up we should get a light covering

Evening All,

First post of winter and after an hour of lamp post perving, we now have some light snow coming down.

Temp 1.2c. Wind NW 8mph.

Not expecting much but great to see the white stuff.

Just checked a wall and its already 1cm deep.

Was thinking earlier that if we got hit head on by the main bulk (as now looks likely) we might see 5cm's but way its looking we might exceed that.

Really difficult to work out amounts for you westies tonight, but one thing you can be certain is whatever falls is likely to stick around for quite some time with temps barely above freezing the next few days. So every flake is critical, good luck!!!

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
