Possible mist and haar will affect eastern coasts but I want a dry spell of weather and that's probably a possibility in Western Scotland.. If any heat triggers Thunderstorms they'll more than likely develop up the spine of the UK and east aswell. However I've seen over the years Lanarkshire getting its fair amount of Thundery Showers some into Glasgow yet the Ayrshire Coast stays sunny and dry the whole day..

Another wet cold miserable morning currently 6.5c.My agronomist was telling me yesterday that winter oilseed rape has suffered  moderate forst damage  spring with lots of empty pods but has recently started to produce more flowering stems to try and set pods again. This is turning into a challenging spring .Just going out now to top up the cattle feeders when grass alone should be growing fast enough to supply all their needs.

Book almost closed on May and generally mean temps have been between 0.5 and 2c below normal. Rainfall above normal just about everywhere with some places in the north and west having well over 200% of their May average. http://www.met.reading.ac.uk/~brugge/CURR.html

As Catch commented earlier it hasn't felt too bad in sheltered parts of the east of Scotland though the lack of haar is testament to the fact settled Spring weather has been at a premium.

Tomorrow marks the first day of meteorological summer, so let's see what we get. I'd certainly take a repeat of last July! Next weekend's warmer spell looks a bit more uncertain and short-lived on this morning's runs but fingers crossed it's just a blip.

Just looked at my local forecast on here and it has  a 16% chance of snow tomorrow morning  on a  SW wind  At least 1st June 1975 snow was on an  arctic northerly.  I notice there is an article on the  low sea temperatures of the N Atlantic in the media thread on here. Think this may may be more talked about in the coming years if true.

Currently dry but dull and windy here and 10c

Hi Folks, quick message to thank you all for your best wishes for young Dr (s) no.....

Fortunately he has managed to progress well...the boy is a true fighter!!

So now it's onwards to the specialist down south ..

It's quite scary to think what he and his team may come up with but whatever it is I know he'll deal with it....and so will we.

Thanks again

Now down to 3.5c almost certain we will get a ground frost tonight given the rate of fall.Cattle all lying under the trees at the  east side of the wood out of the wind . A real winter sunset to the NW  about 30 minutes ago with snow showers to the north highlighted  in pink  by the setting sun.

Currently 5.9c and sunny.

Yes, seen plenty of those recently.

Headed back north tonight in springlike conditions - 8C by the firths and down to 5C on the highest point of the drive.  There was the beginnings of what could haave been a glorious sunset, then just at the wrong point another band of cloud and rain headed in.

Seems to be some excitement recently in the MT. I don't see anything especially swelter-inducing happening on the north coast. Looking forward to some average June weather, if that's possible.

You'd never think there was going to be heavy rain and gales later, lovely sunny morning here in Kelso but it is a bit breezy.

Stay safe today, it's easy to get caught out at this time of year and think it's not going to be too bad. Here's one from the archive covering a June storm:

June 1962 Gale.pdf

(The rest of the newspaper articles are quite interesting too, but not for the weather thread, perhaps for the politics? Labour against nukes, who'd have thunk it!!  :) )

Cold start to the day at 2c but now clouding over windy and currently 8c. Masses of new snow on the hills to the west above 1500 feet on the first day of summer.

Yep 1st of June and the still no further forward this year with regarding any good weather or heat (apart from a week it so in April). Trees took forever to get into leaf and were well behind and with them just got to full leaf we have these gales today. No doubt see some damage to trees overnight with leaves and small branches over the road.

7C, heavy rain and a strong gusty wind.  Isn't there a song... 'things can only get better...' jeez, that was wrecked too.

46.6mm of rain in the last 24 hours for me with the vast majority within a couple of hours earlier this evening. A real autumn or even winter feel tonight with the temperature 5.6c.

It's actually quite calm here at the moment, missing the worst for a change!

Where are you then? Highlands covers quite an area!
