Funny to read comments of 'careless' and 'sloppy' when the aggressive style of play was called for on a number of occasions in the past when such positive match positions were wasted due to slow scori

in all the doom and gloom for the aussies, there is one glimmer of hope....             ...in the form of a promising young batsman who top scored for them.....goes by the name of Extras .....l

Two really poor days for England and they are struggling to save the First Test. Watling and Santner made a 261 run partnership. When was the last time two English batsmen made a 250 run  partnership?

Hammered, not a great start for Coach Silverwood.

England were 277-4 at one point in the 1st innings, then had NZ at 127-4 in theirs. Just a pathetic capitulation, and an inability to bat for any length of time (one 400+ innings in the last 2 years). Joe Root looks lost as a captain, and his form is terrible.

Staggering to think that the ODI side has made 400+ scores than the Test team since the start of 2018. I think the last time the test side made 400+ was the Boxing Day of 2017!

    RIP Bob Willis

Watching him destroy the Aussies at Headingley 1981 was one of the great moments in British sports

The work he done on Sky too bit of a legend with that company. Sad day

England's warm-up against South Africa A has been downgraded from its first-class status due to illness within the England camp.

Around 6 players have flu-like symptoms whilst 2 staff members have also fallen ill.

England start the 4 match Test in South Africa next Thursday.

Not been on.for a while... Nothing much has changed apart from England getting even crapper as a test team... Comfortably the worst I've ever seen. They are a joke and root is still comfortably the worst captain we've ever had.... Jobs for the boys again, they'll never learn and we'll stay the laughing stock of test cricket

I don't understand the decision to bowl first. By all accounts, this wicket will be a nightmare to bat last on, and half the squad is recovering from a sickness bug.

Although root has managed one big score his form dipped badly overall so it's time to change captain. As for the decision to bowl first. Perhaps the bowlers were fine and the batters were ill ?

Turn away South Africa's lead by over 350. Can England bat out time to get a draw. Doubtful.

Yep, 376 needed for an England win.  As Pit says, even a draw looks a big ask.
