Funny to read comments of 'careless' and 'sloppy' when the aggressive style of play was called for on a number of occasions in the past when such positive match positions were wasted due to slow scori

in all the doom and gloom for the aussies, there is one glimmer of hope....             ...in the form of a promising young batsman who top scored for them.....goes by the name of Extras .....l

Nice to end on a victory .. Ashes 'retained' and not won outright.

That's it series leveled. Lucky to get the draw to be honest with the cracks papered over. Both teams have severe batting issues. Hows Warner batted every test with a pathetic average of nine seems a strange one to me. Take Smith out of the Aussie side and we would have won the series. Bowling wise both teams are pretty useful. The draw will save Roots captaincy but he needs replacing so he can concentrate souly on batting we can't really afford a distraction since we are so weak in the top of the batting order.

England are tormenting me ...lol.....I want to criticise the likes of Denley, Buttler & Root, but I can't today.....Excellent win by Eng, Denley has shown that he might just be the man to partner Burns for a good while, he made an adjustment in his technique to play the ball late and it worked a treat....Buttler showed a good glimpse of what he might be capable of as a test match batsman, but I'd give him the gloves still if he is to play.....and Joe Root, he'll always be a quality bat, a useful bowler (as he showed today) and IMO he actually captained well this match, you heard that right....his bowling changes were well timed and his field placing much more pro-active than any other test this summer....he will have read the cricticisms of his captaincy in the press and reflected on them no doubt to improve, fair play, lets all hope he can improve his reading of a game.....the selectors need to make a choice though for the keeper, it's Buttler or Bairstow, not enough room for both, and neither at the moment are really good enough to play as a specialist batsman (Butller scored runs this test but was poor in the series as a whole)

Thank you. I knew they had the 100 coverage. Hopefully that will mean more cricket gets shown rather than waffle replacing ad breaks. I also hope they have it on in the early evening!

Must be close to the worst performance by Aussie openers in an Ashes series ever.

In 20 innings, Warner, Harris and Bancroft made a total of 197 runs

Warner got nearly a third of those in 1 innings!

Surprised that Olly Stone has been left out, although I'm a bit biased. I guess he's just perpetually injured. That said, Saqib Mahmood has looked promising in a couple of T20 games I've watched.

Picked the wrong one again - trying to save money as usual - Gary Kirsten used to be a rock in the SA  batting line up, he would have at least taught the top order how to play for their off stump - and lets face it, that is all that is wrong with our test team apart from the lack of a decent spinner.

Andy Flower leaves England Lions role and departs ECB

    Quote

Former England head coach Andy Flower is leaving his post as coach of the Lions and departing the ECB.

Flower has been working with the Lions for the last five-and-a-half years. The Zimbabwean was an assistant coach with the senior England team in 2007, before taking up the role of head coach in 2009.

The 51-year-old led England to No 1 in the Test rankings in 2011, but pointed to the 3-1 Ashes series win over Australia prior to it as one of his many highlights during his tenure.
