lol...Pit..... Moeen's batting has never saved a test match for england, he's not that kind of batsmen, he's a counter attacking batsmen, and he failed today, the blame is shared equally though, only Cook showed the resolve required...but for all the accusations of people being 'Moeen Bashers' your 'love-in' with Moeen raises equal debate, but I digress.........Agree with your views on Rashid though, what Dawson brings to the table that Rashid doesnt, I have no idea

LOL clearly you've missed a few innings then. Amongst our leading run scorers last year and that's despite being put into open which was a disaster. Like a said though he could score 10,000 runs in an innings take ten wickets but for some it wouldn't be enough. Averages 72 in the number 7 position. He's also one of the few bowlers/batsmen to take 100 wickets and score 2000 runs.

he has not SAVED a single test match for England....he's won a few though!.....Pit, I'm a Moeen convert, he's a quality counter attacking batsman, his spin bowling is improving, but he's not the type of batsman to bat 150 overs to save a test match, that's not his role...His role is to counter attack and smack tired bowlers to the boundary, something that was the opposite of what was required today....Bairstow & Stokes also play in the same vein and gave away their wickets appallingly today....The blame lies in a combination of poor team selection, poor technique, poor mental application and poor leadership (meaning Bayliss)

It seems the ODI batting mentality has carried over into the tests. This time we needed patience and the intention to build an innings with 2 whole days to go.

Our batting looks pretty good against the white ball now but the same players today were found out partly because they did not show that determination to try and hang around. The bowling was accurate and with few bad deliveries many of our wickets were sold cheaply.

Gary Balance now should be dropped as he has had more chances than many but many of our line up are established international level batsman and have not become bad players overnight. They just need a more measured approach at test level and play according to the game situation.

That maybe so but Moeen has an annoying habit of getting out in some naive daft ways. The Test gone, both times he got out just after a fielder was placed there just for such a shot.

As do the rest of the team if you haven't noticed. Perhaps Moheen should shave his beard off or go in disguised as someone else it may distract his knockers. Still you see the same at football matches when some fans get a hate figure and whatever they do they can never do anything right.  Guess it happens in all sports.

What I said yesterday

"I reckon 2 very good balls got wickets, the rest were mediocre to downright pathetic. Broad and Bairstow took the biscuit."

Many Congrats to the women's team, winning through to the
World Cup finals with an exciting semi-final win over S. Africa.
Just two balls left when they hit the winning runs.  I really enjoyed watching the match.

The final is on Sunday (v. India or Aus.)  at a sold out Lords.

B. :)
