Now I've finally managed to work out which area of the country I live in...

Grotty day weather-wise, although at least the wind had dropped a bit when I had to do some stuff in the garden for my parents in the early afternoon.

The good news is that six weeks after his pacemaker was fitted Dad's finally recovered enough from the hospital-acquired pneumonia to have the energy and speed of thought to start driving again.

Friday's forecast doesn't look good for eclipse watching.

A perfect Thames streamer here overnight - unfortunately a month or two late, and 5oC off the money. Grrrrr.

Dull and grey start again this morning.

It has cheered up now a bit with some sunshine developing.

I've kind of written snow off now.

Let's face it, anything now is only very likely to be a statistical curiosity rather than a memorable snowfall in its own right. Even the March snows of two years ago (in our area) wouldn't have warranted too much discussion if they'd occurred in January.

Time to look towards big convective showers, light evenings and warm sunshine methinks. :)

Morning

Cloudy and dull but should brighten up today..

People still chasing cold in model thread.. Why!

We look to have the eclipse being ruined by cloud..

Oh a and a week ago people in the model thread were hyping this so called easterly we are now coming out of..(I'm surprised how easily amused people are re cloudy days 0.o)

For the love of God can spring please arrive.. Sick of this winter boring crap and 1 day of snow..

Rain all morning so far, some of it heavy. This is associated with a warm front pushing up from the continent, hopefully behind with a continental flow we should see some sunny spells develop and temperatures rise to above average levels. So hopefully an improving picture today.

Hello CS,

Was all this rain forecast? It has been very persistent since quite early this morning and shows little sign of relenting. What a horrible day!

Kind Regards

Dave

Just read that good chance of seeing the northern lights even down here if skies are clear.
