Despite an initially cloudless start, it's clouded over fully now.

Sat in Cavendish Square in Central London, sun is now out and cloud burning away. Really is very hot, hair dyer feel to that breeze. Temps must be rapidly rising back into the mid 30s if it stays this way. Beautiful!

First of the light cloud appearing here in South Norfolk.

Can anyone tell me where I might find temperature and humidity data for Norwich from yesterday to compare with today's figures, please?

got a reading of 33.8c in my garden in the shade. This day reminds me of the Olympic torch relay day, where there were huge supercells that produced a tornado in the north and down south it was blisteringly hot.

Down to 27.5 with a high of 29.9 earlier. Been cloudy for the past hour and a half or so but looking at the radar it should be clearing soon.

Think we have 2 areas of fun maybe 3..

First late tonight (midnight onwards) till about 7-8am tomorrow from imports these could be VERY juicy in nature IF they can hold out... Given we will have conditions over land to fire them back up..

2.. Thursday.. We could have some thunderstorms break out over the weat of the Region and anywhere really in region these could be nasty.

3.. Friday night into Saturday including Saturday.. This looks to be the best time with some potentially very damaging storms.

33 at heathrow now back up 3 degrees in under an hour.. still a good 2 hours of heating left I wonder...

What a surprise. Hottest day of the year by far and we get a load of cloud with it. It was absolutely beautiful at 12:30 with full sun, really was warm. Now it's just full cloud. Happens so often.

It's like someone giving you £1000 only to rob 500 of it back. We would have seen the July record go probably, not now. Not enough time for it to warm again.

wow...just stepped outside from my air conditioned office in the heart of London and bam! the heat and humidity hits you like a truck with it's heaters on. Last time I felt like that was Aug 2003.

My nearest local (amateur) station on Weather Underground, which seems to be fairly accurate when compared with official figures, is showing 32.1C and 36% humidity.

I recall going down to the Newbury area for an outdoor concert near Basingstoke during the summer of 2005 - the day of the concert was hot, and there were storms that night, but the following day was just awful.  Being further inland than I'm used to, there was no breeze, so the air just seemed to become stagnant.  We were going to return the following day, and were searching for a way to get onto or near water to cool ourselves off.  First off, we tried the Kennet and Avon Canal, but it was shut, so drove through Reading (where the sunlight reflecting from the concrete and glass made it feel like a furnace) to take a boat trip on the Thames.  Of course, that was also shut!

35C now at Heathrow!

Out of interest when do temps usually peak on day's like this, now the sun has returned is it likely to peak in an hour or so?
