Good pics :-)

Strange that all forecasts I've read make no mention of storms yet it feels like there could be one.

Even estofex I would expect to have issued at least a 15% lightning chance for the South.

Oh well I'm still optimistic :-)

A nice little set of storms heading my direction here in Limousin - quite often they turn tail east, but here's hoping!

Helen Willets confirming that isolated 'high based storms' have been cracking off over parts of Southern England this afternoon, these will die out this evening.

Yes I could see and hear it from Yatton too, big bright flash but the thunder was quite distant so not too loud. Nice surprise, that cell built out of nowhere. Hope there's more to come.

Haven't been on since December wow! Surprise wasn't catching up on this forum, must've been a cell right overhead my house last night and never had a clue.

Doesn't seem to be much potential over the coming weeks for the time being either...

Huh, strange. I was walking into the town (WsM) around the time mentioned by others and I never saw anything (didn't hear anything as I had my headphones in). I always miss the good stuff. :/

Hi @ all

Interesting upper level low with its centre about to cross over East Anglia in a westward direction. It is curcumventing the surface high pressure area north of Scotland. Is clearly visible on this Satpic and could possibly lead to some convective activity over land. Lets keep an eye on it and find out :)

It didn't product very much, just shallow convection which led to a cloudier spell with a few drizzly showers.

When I checked the charts I couldn't see anything in the way of CAPE/negative LIs.

Incidentally, the symbol now is a cloud, lol

Lol they should know the disappointment of storm enthusiasts teasing us like that!

The weekend is worth keeping an eye on where there is potential change I guess.

@ Harry and Greenday:

Yes, indeed it is beginning to look as if the coming weekend will herald the start  of some serious convective activity for a change. The model runs are becoming more and more conclusive in suggesting a change over to more unsettled weather during the WE and next week with the passage of a number of consecutive troughs (April weather pattern, hey :) )

The strength of the spring sun should aid in creating some good convection, indeed something to look forward to..

Regards

Ralph

Quick run through the GFS and that doesn't show anything of note over the weekend. Light showers for Saturday.
