Hi Pal

wanted to se the 12z before passing comment

DP fine -1

Uppers marginal around -4

So will stick with my original prediction of wintry mix at best

low ground and a brief covering 150m plus, thats providing

the trough plays ball

Showers look to be turning wintry to the north and south of Manchester. I wonder if I am further east enough. Time shall tell.

Dry and bright/sunny day but with a bitter cold feel in the wind.

Then as it went dark a few sleety showers arrived but not settling.

Not quite as grim as yesterday but still a preety miserable winter's day here. Awoke to heavy hail/wet snow which quickly covered the ground. I was up near Threlkeld, and the contrasts were quite startling in terms of snow cover. There had been a heavy snowfall earlier the day, more of a wet graupel type feature, but it had left a coating on ground roughly 100 metres, and it was lying thick above 200m, a snowy scene at Dunmail Raise with the central fells coated deep white. However, on approaching Keswick despite evidence of same said snowfall on low ground in gardens, the fells were preety sparsely covered, the likes of Skiddaw and Blencathra had a slight coating only... Looking further west, not much snow on NW fells below 500m neither.

A cold day overall, further sleety hail showers this afternoon and a gusty wind. A day to wrap up. Current temp 3.6 degrees, too much wind around tonight for a frost.

Plenty of interest in the models for further cold PM air incursions at times into March which look like they could be more potent than the current spell. Winter certainly not wanting to give up just yet, spring maybe put on hold temporarily!

An example from tonight's ECM
