bournemouth storm,

it came as fast as it went, lasting about 45 mins.

3 or 4 decent cracks of thunder with the same 3 or 4 decent lightning flashes,

3 or 4 mins of moderate hail,

very disappointing really, but probably the best we have had in 7 years so can't complain, good luck to all waiting for something.

dramatically over hyped and reported on.

Just 2.3mm here lol

Lot's of fire engines going out..

Flash floods possibly? If there has been over an inch of rain in such a short period of time as reported in above post.

Wonderful serene skies out there now with bursts of lightning pulsing in the distance and the moon beaming between breaks in the angry clouds.

It was still going off and i was still stuck in the greenhouse, so did what any self-respecting man would do,... took my jersey off and had a dance in the garden. Happy days.

That, and lightning strikes i suspect.

We didn't get a fraction of tonights lightning on June 11th, but that caused damage to a friends house.

Very gusty winds here too, surprising considering how far away the storms are.

All the lightning I saw looked elevated, Mapantz?

The majority was, but, there were a couple of -CG's definitely around this area. They tend not to have the explosiveness of +CG's, but, still do some damage. I think Luke Best said he had lot's of CG's where he was?!

Crash bang wallop here in Gloucester. Cotswolds taking the brunt it appears but still plenty of activity to my south.

Sultry here - reminds me of a holiday I had in Malaysia..

Cheers !

John in Quedgeley, Gloucester

p.s. Its amazing when you zoom in on the activity down south and east :-O !

Pretty good but not as widespread as one would like and no where near some of the storms in the noughty's!

Yeah, strange weather Smartie. Still feels like being in a Southern France / Med storm when I step outside the back door - still a warmish breeze. I suppose it might have been the extra garlic I put in the spaggy and the wine that is contributing to that Mistral feeling

In Verwood we had a thunder and lightning show from the SE to SW coming towards us for about 30 minutes, then the storm hit us for about 20 minutes, 33mm according to our local facebook weather expert.

A good one.

If I could post my flippin video you would see that the reports arent 'hyped'...pretty much constant lightning and thunder going by west of us with a few overheads...little rain but way way more than 3 or 4 cracks!! We are just 8 miles east of Bournemouth and my lightning recorder recorded up to 115 strikes per minute...and it lasted from about 11.30 to almost 1am.
