Area of developing storms between Weymouth-Guernsey is growing with each 5 min radar screen, looks like it will run up across Dorset-Somerset-Bristol so potentially excellent viewing from my part of Wiltshire towards the West. However I expect it to grow further and expand, possibly producing a lot more lightning by midnight than the precipitation area might suggest too.

Lyn, Mullender, Andy Pepler, and others, get ready!

(I am prepared to be wrong ! )

Also looking forward to a day out at Kingston Lacy tomorrow.

It looks to me we might be now in the best spot!! going against what i said earlier.

here hoping

At last!  First thunder since November last year just heard.  That second cell is brushing past me to the east at the moment.

First flashes out to the west. Big firework display to the east though, which is a bit confusing... .:s

Very warm gusty wind and lightning to the SW 5 mins ago. Love it when it gets dark enough to see lightning from a distance.

Hello fellow regionals. Don't forget to visit the convective discussion thread linked below for up to date reports from inside and outside of our region.

You've been warned though, it is a very fast moving thread. Some isolated storms kicking off now here and there and the interest should remain for a fair few of us before waning from about 1am onwards.  :hi:

About ten minutes of torrential rain, several big flashes and rumbles, but all well to the east.  Still some more rain to come from that cell and then there's the one currently over Portland.

Report back again in the morning.

Lightning to the SSE of me and deep rumbles of thunder plus a gusty warm wind sprung up now! Amazingly still 23c here. Interesting night ahead hopefully!
