A neat cm or so in Warminster, unbelievable considering last night was originally going to be snowy from the W/NW and we get a trough from the NE that didn't weaken!

Radar suggests the sweet spot was roughly Swindon-Devizes-Salisbury and onwards.

Well well, just been outside and it is quite a covering of the crispy stuff. Not wet yet so I was momentarily pleased .. Until I realised I've to drive in it in my new car which I am told isn't like my old Nissan with front wheel drive. I am told fill the boot with heavy stuff.. I've only got a bag of manure! Ewwww.

Following the radar trace East Dorset has been the sweet spot of this North Sea streamer!

This stuff is the good ol' light fluffy stuff, not the usual wet and stodgy stuff we normally see @ sea level.

Right,    spring tomorrow.

Now there's an opener for anybody prepared to get a ban!

Well looks like we just missed out on a bit of the white stuff again here in South Glos but personally I'm quite enjoying this cold spell of proper winter weather. Very little snow in these parts but looking at the predicted temperatures for the next week or so, there's every chance of a few more surprise snowfalls and every chance of heading into the second half of February with a very low CET. As I said, proper winter weather!

Cant believe the amount of snow which has fallen here ... a good inch at least! Snow melting at a fast rate now. I can hear that the trains are running! What a beautiful surprise!

Just woken up to a slight dusting here in Gosport.

A few flakes still coming down.

0.3c here now, and down to -0.4c overnight

Yep - first snow in god knows how long in Gosser.  I drove from Gosport through Titchfield at about 6:30am and it was veritable snowstrom - absolutely chucking it down  got to the top of TFD hill and it was back to just fine snow lol

No more snow here but still some on the ground and everywhere looks frozen, our cornish lanes are going to be dodgy this morning.

Thursday could produce more wintry PPN from a NE/E direction. Even today those showers across Eastern areas my penetrate into the SW region.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
