Thank you for posting the brighton rocks one, looks just like that here, with Jupiter inside the halo, Just beautiful.

Just been talking to someone in the know and they've just told me that the snow shield is expected to remain online

Well fair play to the Euro4 called it fairly well tonight. The NMM however is wrong by about 150 miles + massive FAIL.

Those in the W/NW of the region enjoy.

Am guessing some stunning pictures will be coming in of this tonight!

The main band is weakening now anyway. Nothing much coming off the North Sea now either. Maybe a wintry mix to look forward to tomorrow lol

Ice grains been blowing around in the wind here for the past hour. Temp -0.8C

Looks like some showers are starting to pep up now in east Norfolk, so some of Suffolk may be lucky later tonight. I have work early tomorrow, so I'm not staying up.

Do the BBC look at these ppn predictions as well? If so, they must have gone for the NMM, who as you say were well wide of the mark. Euro4 very accurate.

Latest Euro 4 suggests more snow tomorrow for the areas already seeing snow i.e Wash.

Could turn rather sleety in the afternoon.

wow, it's pretty painful to watch that precip slipping southwestwards, especially as the temps are the right side of marginal now - from an IMBY perspective, is there any other precip expected to make it to the soutcoast tonight?
I see the Metoffice still have a warning for snow for our area between 6am - 10am tomorrow, or is this just wishful thinking?

Glad to see some people have manage to get a decent covering tonight anyway...

I'll just post this pic here of the halo moon, and it's little mate Jupiter, as a consolation  !

Snowing in Hemel Hempstead for 25 minutes. Covering quite nicely with temp -1 deg C. Gone from light to moderate. Will produce a decent cover if it continues at this rate for an hour or more.

I am 5 miles south of you and we have nothing at all.

It's the 700hPa wind vectors you want to view when tracking PPN, surface wind direction doesn't give an accurate enough picture. 700hPa shows why the band is moving SW

attachicon.gifUntitled.png

Yes, makes sense when you look at these...maybe we should all have thought of looking at these wind vectors (including the forecasters) instead of just going by the wind direction...

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
