After having a look at various charts, I've come up with a rather clever map of areas that are unlikely to see anything wintry ..

attachicon.gifmap-2048-8.png

Joking aside, that's actually how it looks..

I take it that red arrow is pointing towards all the areas that WON'T see snow, whilst us in Hants and Dorset get pasted!

Bring it on...  :drinks:

the met office warning is not just for 1cm of snow.......the warning is a yellow warning for snow and ice (accs of 5cm possible in some places) and the key sentence is ...."The public should be aware of the risk of disruption due to snow and icy roads.".......seems fair enough to me

Indeed AJ that is how I would have interpreted such warnings as well. Hopefully we can now move this thread along but somehow I don't think we've heard the last of that particular topic as it seems to be human nature these days to debate about debates which in mind don't need debating in the first place. Just stand watch over your lamp-post, have a beverage or two and chill as the Temperatures start to chill down outside too.

Nota bad day here, decent amounts of brightness and the odd break to allow the sunshine to break through. Maxed at 6.8°C

The beverage bit, yes! Lampposts, no. They go off at 11:50pm here. :(

But there's the chance of some snow tonight so why wouldn't it be debated...

Well the very early stages of the GFS 12z still looks fruitful for the SW English hills and moors tonight into tomorrow. Might get a few inches over the highest tops methinks.

This still applies some 24 hours later. I'm referring to the first paragraph which is worth reading again if you're located in that neck of the woods.

I like your posts mate, but linking back to previous posts all the time like your giving yourself a 'big up' for your forecast is quite anoying.

Ok GTLTW does that mean I need to be very careful riding out tomorrow morn about 10ish on the roads or not. Snow ice and horse shoes aren't a good mix!

My temp has held steady at 4.6C all afternoon, whilst the dp has fallen to -1.8C and humidity has plummeted to 62%! I can't see where this ppn forecast for tonight is gonna come from. The most northerly shower clouds on the radar are dying out over the Highlands.

Mind you, I said that last night, so probably we'll have to dig our front doors open tomorrow morning!

Yes, that is not my intention of course though, perhaps I should however moderate this particular moderator a bit more on occasions.   :D  Just trying to add some balance as previous postings can easily get lost amongst the "winter's over and no snow on my rooftop" type posts aplenty resulting in us all losing track of the latest developments.  :nonono:

As for the rest of the GFS run within the reliable, a rather dry but cold run on the whole so far towards the latter part of next week, oh well, things can still change.

Yes, radar watch for others but wishbone effect still applies I'm afraid, unless a frontal trough/disturbance pops up of course, however unlikely.

7union-just-ice-fitted-baseball-cap_1.jp see post above this PB. Never say never though and other folk might yet suggest differently as might the radars.

.. however incorrect spelling is annoying. .

I so hope Katement we all get a little bit more of the wintry stuff tonight and it stays for a little longer tomorrow. Could do trying the camera out to get a decent wintry scene photo.

Devon westwards and Gloucester and Wiltshire eastwards currently I think with just enough cloud in between to prevent a hard frost.  :wallbash:
