Someone posted this on the model thread. I don't think it be like that by Friday especially in the lowlands.

I'm in the green (no snow) bit right near the Sefton coast :'( Edited by loubie_4

It has been a few years since i last posted.

hale

2.9C slowly falling temperature

0.8C dew point, slowly falling

Sleet in the vicinity.

So far we have had very erratic temperature changes. Highest temperature 30 minutes ago was 4.5C

until about 1 hour ago, it has been completely dry, then we had a light rain shower. also having just gone out to the car

the wind appears to have dropped to a very light breeze.

The angle of those showers does not look promising at all, just seen the sat24 radar and they seem more aligned northern ireland / ireland -> south wales.

Off to bed - rubbish. People take note - for good snow that everyone wants it needs to be colder!!!! Freezing cold! Below 0. Mental note to self -marginal means no snow for most!

that is not true really, as long as you have your dew point at or below 0C, you can have temperatures of 5/6C, but it needs to be very heavy precipitation for it to change to snow, also helps you have the right 850hpa temps too

Sod all here apart from a brief sleety snow shower earlier. It doesn't even feel that cold out of the wind so I reckon the dewpoint must be quite marginal at the minute.

Not quite, its snowing fairly widely this evening even in urban areas like Manchester. The problem is any sort of westerly wind will warm up regions by sea - if the northerly early week sees troughs & disruptions then you won't have that problem :)

There's still time but I have to say this is looking very similar to last weeks event, I'm not holding out much hope for anything particularly wintry tonight and we may have to wait for next weeks installment but by then I think many in here will have called time on another wild goose chase.

been rather a strange day, we had a few flakes but it gave up.  That wind we had down here was bordering gale force for a while, then it just vanished.  Very similar temps to you, would really like to see the 850hpa down to at least -10C or so, and then we have the strange alignment, which I think will likely change once it hits the northwesterly airflow

Turning into a great night here with another heavy blustery snow shower rattling through on a gale force wind, it's so rare to get high winds and snow haven't seen anything like it for years.

4cms lying now blowing about in the wind, OK not a great amount but I am not complaining.

The original forecast was rain / sleet this evening to gradually turn to snow in the early hours of the morning until at least mid morning (9am). colder air will arrive overnight, would not worry to much.

just wanted to point out for the estuary at least,  since we are literally on the borderline as it is, it will only take a heavy shower for it to fall as snow.

3 inches of snow now and looking at the radar there's plenty more to come overnight. Really have done well out of this spell, usually there's not much left of the showers after passing over Dumfries and Galloway. Hope you guys further south wake up to a covering, I'm off to bed.
