Just shows not all Sundays are cloud talk....Just love this sat image, out of the whole of Europe the most crisps clear place is the MIDLANDS :yahoo:

attachicon.gifCapture.PNG trans.pngattachicon.gifCapture.PNG EDIT; this one is from earlier, waiting for the later one to become available .

Wow, someone must have turned the Midlands Cloud Shield up really high today. :o

Has certainly been a pleasant day, though. (Will admit I'm looking forward to some of the likely convective/showery setups via the Polar Maritime flows for early this week).

It has been beautiful. I've been sitting in the garden most of the day. Crystal clear skies. :)

seems like going by the reports, here is the only place to have a very cold strong wind, really did feel unpleasant out of the sun

Frosty from 2am until 7am witha low of -2.7C. Not looking forward to seeing how much damage the frost may have done to the garden despite fleece and newspaper.

Just missed an air frost here with a min' of 0.1c. There was always just enough breeze overnight to keep the air stirred up.

Got down to -1C last night despite the wind, frost was still there in the shade at 8am. Funny how polar maritime air behaves so differently in different months:

Jan- 3C day and night, cold rain while above 300m gets snow, no frost even when nights are crystal clear.

April- double figures by day, below freezing at night, occasional showers that can be wintry at 5C.

A light snow shower earlier this morning has left a thin scattering of snow on the roofs and cars.

No snow here, but we did have a frost at -0.9C which made the grass look nice and white!

Nice and sunny, but skies a bit milky.

Really belted it down with snow and chunks of ice a few hours ago, was driving to hyde, massive flash of lightening huge boom then all alarms going off in hyde, bank machines out of order.... Alarms still going off as i left back to glossop... Snow on the hills above... Pretty looking bleaklow and kinder....

Apart from the odd light shower yesterday - one that barely wet the ground, seems to have stayed mostly dry. Would have loved to have seen some sleet or snow showers like some of you others have been getting (although it was likely to be more of a high-ground event, really). Currently sunny with patches of fluffy cloud. Temperature around 9*C with a Dewpoint of -1.6*C.

Another pretty good day, and looking like a pleasant evening too. Max temp 11.9C.

Luckily the approaching rain bearing front should be through the west of the region by dawn leaving us with potentially another decent day. Would be better if the wind dropped out a bit, but still better than rain.
