Hang on! It's not here yet! Keep watching...

Didn't look good on latest radar. Is it me or is a streamer setting up behind this?

Ways that blob over Shropshire can miss me now:

1) Sudden turn eastwards

2) Fizzling short of me

3) Turning into rain (it'd do that here with -20 uppers...)

4) Being Hoovered up by a vast fleet of council lorries and dumped in Leicestershire

5) Aliens landing and putting up a huge snowshield dome over North Worcs

6) All of the above.

I'm going for 6.

The main blob is now starting to turn southeastwards , I think Oxfordshire will do well out of this and thereafter the south.

7. Turn into a polar low and then deliver rain.

Little too close for comfort to that gap but I think we'll be OK here in Dudley. Prime areas for the heaviest and most prolonged bit of precipitation I would say are Wombourne, Stourbridge and Kidderminster.

A couple of shots from my Meteogroup radar forecast; 1.30am & 2am (red is snow, grey is sleet)...

Look behind the split, there's a nice little consolation prize developed there anyway.

It's been mentioned many times before but I really do think we need separate regional threads for the West and East Midlands. If there were to be an East Midlands thread I would take Lincolnshire out of the Yorkshire one. Then it would more accurately represent the government boundaries which the Met Office use. Whilst places like Glossop are in the East Midlands, it is near Manchester etc so I know it will never be perfect. But the Midlands is too big for a single thread.

I know you have to define a border somewhere, which is why I check the SE/East Anglia thread to see what people from nearby places like Peterborough and North Beds are posting.

Right I'm off to bed. Precipitation looks like splitting either side of me and the chart above suggests snow turning to sleet quite quickly.. Night all, hope some if you are lucky x

Looks like that's it for tonight. Was heading straight for us, but seems to have veered South. At least we should get a good freeze now to keep the snow 'til tomorrow.

Noted, I'll bring it up with the team.
