Ground now sopping from the rain.

That's completely shanked any chance of settling snow later/overnight.

Pathetic really when the weather forecast was saying a day of sunshine and snow showers this morning. The squall line lasted longer yesterday

Been a damn good while since I've seen over 312 users in here. :)

Rain generally turned sleety in the heavier bursts - I'm much more intrigued for later.

Where is it coming from later though?? Does not seem to be anything behind this?

Just a shame it was so shortlived! But better than nothing and good to see a snowflake for the first time since March 2013.

Got caught in a heavy sleety graupel downpour around 3.30pm while collecting little one from the nursery, left a layer of ice on the car ... temp now dropped to 2C.

12z UKMO (meso) takes the little low to the NW southeast down across N Ireland then Wales then out across English Channel  around Dorset/Hants - looks like sleet and snow from this feature mostly to the west of our area, but may catch some west and SW of London.

Snow is specific to certain areas that are in the colder air. Seems that south of London is still rain. But still got that band to come that's north of London.

Of course, but you said "Looks dry for everyone shortly I think?" which is clearly incorrect on a forum page covering 2 regions (SE and EA).

Snow has stopped here and is melting quite rapidly.

Tonight's snow doesn't sound up to much. Quote Alex Deakin "a little bit more snow, especially over hills". Seems to sweep through quite quickly too

It is turning more favourable temp is dropping, along with dew point

Ooooo that is polar low :shok: several days ago I mentioned it was ripe for such developments.

Sums it up really:

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Bright spells with rain, sleet and snow showers Saturday and perhaps Monday. Mostly dry and bright Sunday with wintry showers possible in the far east. Significant wind-chill at times.
