Had another covering here over night was nice to see but pretty much melted now, the proper cold should be in place by the end of the day so any showers shouldn't suffer as much, really hope everyone thats missed out so far gets at least a covering by the end of winter :-)

Zilch in Sarfend. Well at least we saw some flakes falling this winter I suppose. Another pants winter overall.

Quite ironic that by next weekend we could be looking at the start of the coldest period of winter so far with probably very low minimum temperatures and localised ice days. But like Paul says only if it's a clean high.

Am sure that is going to get Steve and Dave (Teits) interested again but how can any model have chalk and cheese outputs within 6 hours!

They dont call it GooFuS for nothing, I think I will pass judgement on this one until it at least comes into the T72 Range and even then they have been known to vanish, all eyes on the 12z's I think to see what the ECM & UKMO Come up with!

Wouldn't take much correction to get some serious convection going in Kent and Sussex.

A bit chilly & boring sums it up.

Not going to get excited till we spot a NE/E'ly with alot of precipitation for us to tap into otherwise its a rinse & repeat episode.

YepFeb1991

High Pressure shaped like the sausage between Iceland and Norway has a nearly 100% strike rate for the SE With any Euro Trough, it is interesting to see.

Going to look at the 9th Jan 2003 archived charts to see how that small wedge of High Pressure looked on the charts!

Lol

Yep, they are pretty rank words in the winter, throw in "South of the M4" and Mild Sector and we have the set.

Hastings always traditionally does very well from any angle of attack from a wind which is just east of north so if anyone can grab some snow next week I would be hedging my bets on the Ashford to Hastings line from any streamer that sets up.

Good luck and hopefully we can get some snow pictures from the hillier parts of Kentishire and Sussexshire

You forgot transient ..

Well well the GFS 6z pulls us back from the brink and increases the interest again.

Will we fall for it again?

Of course we will. See you back here for 12Z.........

If things turn cool, calm, sunny and dry I will be happy, until spring finally arrives at least.

what was all the fuss about? i woke up to puddles and the charts looks rubbish with just a lame easterly showing now

Snowed light to moderate in the Croydon area from around 1am and lasted almost 3 hours. Snowed started settling in places for a while, but melted later on

I shall be keen to see where the 06Z sits with the ensembles. These past few days have seen many bitterly cold GEFS members and they largely disappeared on the 0Z except 2 or 3 members. So the 06Z output is very unexpected to me.

Having said this obviously the atmosphere has been delicately poised hence all those cold GEFS members. Maybe something has occurred to tip this in our favour. I hazard a guess that the 06Z GEFS members will show a greater number of colder members compared to the 0Z.

ahahah ,

Can I add "near coasts" to the "wintry mix" bit.

At the risk of sounding uncharitable, it can be a bit soul destroying seeing rain when just up the road in Crowborough it's hammering it down. No offence intended!

well the most exciting thing for me, is finding my recycling bags ,[which have been blown around the garden],, leaving them, then coming back later to find them in totally different places, so no snow, but trying to make it more exciting, :)

Blimey i really need a life

What I would say about the magical charts this morning is if it was the otherside of the coin & showing mild some would be classing it as game over for winter.

Warmer than yesterday already, temp 3.8, dp 1.3.

Not sure anything will fall as snow unless the temp drops while it's cloudy.
