Latest BBC forecast is very unflattering. Next few days mainly dry, temps 5-6C. Nothing out of the ordinary for this time of year. So when exactly does this cold spell begin?

Was just thinking exactly the same, highs around 4c for me (except tues), all the way through.  Seems the worst of both worlds to me - not cold enough, not mild enough, just eugh.

Damp and windy start to the day.

Temperature 3C, dew point 1C

There is still a north easterly this week, but it feels increasingly like we are juicing a prune rather than a ripe orange.

I'm certain we'll see a downgrade to the MetO warnings today, or at least to the wording which will further confine any significant showers to the Easternmost coasts only.

Feels like the 90s again :(

Had enough or waiting around for nothing. Gonna give myself a rest and not come on the forum for a few days and just look at the BBC forecast a couple of times.  More to life than snow.

More sleety rubbish here. It's the worst of all weather worlds: it appears to offer you the snow you desire only to leave soaked, sodden and sorrowful.

Someone please ring the bell for change.

There's nothing worse than cold rain, knowing that only a couple of degrees would make all the difference...

I'm at aprox 100 mtrs above sea level and Ditchling Beacon is 227 Mtrs Above Sea level so as Steve Murr said snow possible above 50mtrs explains this!

Wholeheartedly agree. All the potential washed away by marginality. At least with HP building for the end of the week, there might be some pleasant days of winter sunshine.

I give up. Every time the ppn arrives its too mild, so much for the cold spell.

Time to book a skiing holiday.

This has got to be the worst forecasted cold spell in years, the MO warnings are a joke the forecasted min temps also. Yawn yawn.

The temps have been a diss appointment but you only have to look at the weather where it's sourced from to see the problem. Reykjavik mostly this week 4-5 degrees and sleet. Until we lock on to a more NE flow we Are going to be hunting.

Heavy snow here again now at 0.9C. Temperature has stayed around 1C since 5pm yesterday. Nothing settling. Just a cold wet mess everywhere.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
