GFS 12z still showing an easterly of sorts for mid next week - hopefully uppers should be cold enough for a bit of showery stuff.

I don't understand them either! - why just for Essex?

Aren't the warnings for kent/Medway too?

Yes your right - but why? ppn clearing away almost from Essex now and not far behind eastern kent? so why for snow overnight.

There is a small low moving down the east coast tonight, should be with you early morning.

Must be because I think there's a feature coming down from the north with the cold air? I think it's a disturbance coming down the North sea coastal regions.....might see in a few hours what's going to happen?

^^^^ what Shotski said :p

I can't believe how cold it feels. I haven't felt this bitterly cold in a long time.

Think the MetO warnings seem a bit like anything could happen. I'll expect snow that won't lay on wet ground, but be pleasantly surprised if we get more.

Well here, the grass is white and as are parts of peoples roofs :) We had a dusting, such a shame it didn't keep going, huge 50p flakes

If you take a look on meteox you can see the front just starting to form out to the east coast of Scotland.

Well after today's rain » snow » rain » heavy rain (»lovely snow washed away) event it's now drying up nicely and feeling seriously cold in the icy wind. Anyone fancy a guess as to whether I'm in a good position for tonight's possible snow please? Heres hoping ;)

If this event wasn't so marginal, we'd be seeing similar scenes to January 2003. The parameters look very similar indeed, it's just the temps and dew points need to be lower. Here's hoping for tonight.

Yeah, tonight is more hope than anything, not really expecting much though if at all. But, after the heavy snow earlier which was unexpected this time yesterday, who knows!

As I finished work at 11:00 am, rain was falling.

It then  turned to heavy snow for about 40 mins turning grass and roofs white.

But as usual in this part of the world, it turned to rain and washed it all away!

If you take a look on meteox you can see the front just starting to form out to the east coast of Scotland.

..and some precipitation popping up on the radar out of no-where too - temps and dew points dropping rapid now and the wind has picked up.

Lamp Post watching..

The rain has just turned to snow here in dover, wonder how long this band will last though, looks on it's last legs.

Seems to wet to lay for now, hoping for a long heavy bit, then it will.

and just over the river in South Essex we have green grass and brown roofs. quite disappointing so far really, but it feels freezing.

The further west the depression slips down will allow showers and ppn further inland.. Ideally hot spots tonight Norfolk, East London down into Kent..

Places like myself more west (west London) and north London we need to rely on showers and ppn moving south and keeping together as the low slips south... Another interesting night and of course some surprises will be thrown in :)

There must be an incredibly narrow warm slot in this system.  It's still raining here, but, according to NW radar, on either side of me (around 5 miles to my west and 10-12 miles to my east) it's sleet/snow.

The further west the more likely warm sectors will be dragged in
