You have a link for the Selsdon WS MrC??  Although I am prob closer to Biggin Hill Airport than Selsdon :)

Hiya,

Only a back garden one (watson 8681), but has done the job over the years here.

Slight dispute with webhost atm so not publcally available anymore :(

If you're up towards the common probably closer to biggin WS but elevation will be slightly out.

Hiya why don't you post the 3,4 & 5pm when they come out- we have some better guidance on track then!

S

That looks as though it's going to track further east to me, not due south. Yes I think it's get a lot of logs in time. Edited by Iceni

Current Dew Point in Leighton Buzzard is at 0C. Temps stand at 4C but have been slowly decreasing as the cold front approaches from the north and west. Current radar does indicate some organized bands of sleet and snow approaching (just cleared Birmingham) and should hit the area in approximately one hour.

Showers marching in towards us, some will be disappointed as Rain & Sleet will be most of them depending on how heavy they are, then some wet snow.

Hopefully later their can be more, then they will be mostly of snow.

Showers really kicking off over Norfolk and parts of Cambridgeshire now, also the ones out west are starting to breach this region too. At the moment the ones in the north seem to be falling as rain. Hopefully that will change soon.

There is also a line of rain/sleet showers running along the south coast. Progress up to around Brighton at the moment.

is that's what's supposed to give us our 1cm :-)

I don't believe so - A closed low like that isn't on any of the forecasting models

That is tonight's potential snowfall. It is supposed to sweep south/south east during the rest of today and broadly track across the south western third of the country, giving snow to the western and southern areas of the region. That is off the latest model guidance.

Actually the NMM drops this further east on the 06z

Great uncertainty on the track, I think the western and southern areas are most at risk, but a track like that could give snow to most of the region.

Just cycled home from work with lovely dark clouds overhead, unfortunately it was a rain shower, not 1 flake or sleet in it  :sorry:

extremily light rain started here bout 10 mins ago, few flakes mixed in as it got a bit heavier, currently is a steady light rain with the odd v small flake, but after around 10 mins still not enough to wet the ground

Just looked at the charts, it's completely unforecasted..

Met seem to have their eye on it though:

During the early hours of Friday morning a more persistent spell of rain, sleet and snow may affect parts of Wales, the Midlands and southern England. Again, 1 to 2 cm of snow is possible at low levels whilst locally up to 5 cm could settle on high ground above about 150 m. However, this is rather uncertain and many places will see little, if any, lying snow, and ice is more likely to be a hazard.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
