If you hand around for another 4 billion years or so Knocker you will be able to get a much closer view because that is when Andromeda is expected to collide with our galaxy :)

If you guys are into space etc you should check out http://en.spaceengine.org

SpaceEngine - a free space simulation program that lets you explore the universe in three dimensions, from planet Earth to the most distant galaxies. Areas of the known universe are represented using actual astronomical data, while regions uncharted by astronomy are generated procedurally. Millions of galaxies, trillions of stars, countless planets - all available for exploration. You can land any planet, moon or asteroid and watch alien landscapes and celestial phenomena. You can even pilot starships and atmospheric shuttles.

I currently hold the biggest star found to date on this software! 15.993 AU (1.48664223 × 109 miles [what ever that number means?] our sun is 432,450 miles across or 0.0046491 AU)

Plus heres some other screen shots from inside the software, all generated inside the game with no editing.

Stuff like that and how insignificant we are (yet how important we think we are) will never cease to completely amaze me.
