Heaviest showers look to be heading through S Wales and into the Midlands for next couple of hours.

Sleet/Rain gone off now.

Snowing here again although not heavy. I can't work out where those streams of showers are heading. Think we may just have to wait a few hours before areas start seeing real snow?

Bear with me, I maybe able to help!

yep, just saw a couple of flashes there too

I think the lightning you're seeing is from the next batch of cells, I meant the one that just passed through here before it arrived. Good to hear so many are electrically active. :)

Clouds are breaking up nicely here looks a lot calmer here now can't see any more showers heading this way for another few hours at least.

Elevation is key tonight that's for sure.

Yeah, happy I witnessed some flakes of snow, I think the moors are the place to be tonight, I wouldn't be surprised to open up the webcam on Dartmoor tomorrow and see it white.

Not completely.

If you see intensity it could lower wbfl to sea level later in the night if you get caught in the stream of showers and likewise If I am unlucky to just get a couple of passing showers it probably wont leave me as much as lower areas.

As the colder air creeps in the WBFL begins to fall, it will fall further in heavy showers. Don't be dismissive yet! :)

First shower just passed through and was of sleet/rain at 75meters asl, not to heavy though. But as Kaisegberger highlighted just a few miles away and with another 100meters of elevation that lot was snow! Im sure the hills will take the brunt of any accumulations tonight although im hopeful of at least dusting as the colder air digs in.

Also I swear I saw some flashes way out towards the west! Hopefully the next band of showers will be more intense and have some evaporative cooling with heavier ppn to aid brining the snowline down a bit.

I've noticed some very low dew points over Cornwall recently, could that move over this way to provide a higher chance of snow maybe?

Anyone remember thunders now event in, if I remember right, Jan 2004? Lightening thunder and 4 inches of snow in 20 mins. Hope that squall line moves north a bit...

That's interesting, does the WBFL control dew point, as it's very close to my temperature now, and hoping the humidity drops a bit.

My partner at the time went shopping, for half an hour, and was in a shop and missed the whole thing. Think she thought she'd been gone for hours...

After those initial flurries it's all gone quiet here. Wrong side of the streamers.
