I think the showers will crash and burn before they reach us as bbc have on forecast.

Awaiting the next runs...please another westward adjustment...

Here is the Net Wx-SR NMM 06z version of events showing the expected precipitation type at 6pm.

Yes, courtesy of the above NW Extra chart it seemingly shows a decline in intensity by then and indicates it to become a Sleet/Snow mix but....... The weather which has proceeded said prediction, may well not have reflected the reality as it's bleedin cold out there.

Chances for some of us but best bet for now is to simply stand by those lamp-posts and hope.  :friends:

AT 2.3c, DP 0.8c, roll on sunset.  :D

I'm liking these westward corrections, I have a feeling I will need sleeping pills by the time this week is done..

Somerset gritter has just tweeted that they are expecting snow showers but no accumulations but they are gritting. Temp is now 2.4c DP -3!

What a beauty!

By far the best chart of the Winter, very much deserving of an OMG for this regional.  :shok:

attachicon.gifGFS 12z 180115 Wales SW & CS Eng Snow risk + snow level at t+84hrs - 0000hrs 220115.png

You couldn't make it up, just remember as a NWP model chart at t+84 hours, it is just that, made up.

Another chart courtesy of the wonderful NW Extra subscription package, best be my last for now.

Great unless u live on the Isle of wight!! :(

The chart shown is not to be taken too literally. As an aside, the snow-making weather machine has been known to visit the IOW on occasion.  :)

Beautiful day today. Snow is always the goal, but weekends like this in winter are fantastic.

Even fired the bbq up at lunchtime :D, then sat in the sun in our big coats with a beer.

Just driven down from Oop North and drove through some really heavy snow and whiteout conditions at times between the M6 toll junction, through Birmingham and towards Worcester. Settled readily, especially over the higher ground.

Mixed emotions as it was great to see, but not much fun driving through!

What a shame it hasn't maintained its intensity.

Ok, I'll leave off the spiking, when's a good time to fertilise it?

Not until it warms up and the grass shows signs of growing.

Really can't recommend strongly enough that you should get rid and start again properly. What the builders have done is the equivalent of putting down the cheapest carpet possible, without any under-lay, laid on top of dodgy floorboards.

Back on topic.....just been out and the roads are like ice rinks already, no sign of grit around here. It'll be lethal if anything falls out of the sky.

Its like 5 miles north and fizzling out faster than a liddles sparkler

I wish the weather would just get its' act together, all these dribs and drabs, a flake here, a flake there, drives me nuts. Get cold and do it properly I say!

Shedloads of snow or an early spring please.

No good asking me, those synoptic charts are just squiggles and pretty colours to me. I think the picture is from a few posts earlier but that the ECM has broadened the swathe of those who may see snow???? At least that's how it sounded to me.
