Doing the post code zoom thingy I don't think it's even that far away. Pondering how sad it would be to go out for a little drive around...

I did postcode zoom also and I think its less than 3 miles, makes me so angry knowing it would settle at the drop of a hat with our elevation.. :cc_confused:

It's on and off wet snow and sleet. Just need a bit more intensity. And just saw a flash in the sky.

And it registered on Blitzortung - Yay - first lightning / sleet / snow ever seen!

Hey kumquat

Thunder\lightning & snow is awesome hope we may get more from the squall line which seems to be forming in the B channel.

You may already have this UK version of Blitzortung but thought I'd post it JIC I find it really good as you can zoom in.

Happy snow watching just started sleeting again.

Heavy wet snow here starting to settle on all surfaces. Looking at the radar a fair bit yet to come hopefully.

Back from ASDA... it's rain, rain and more rain. Oh and wind too. Besides that, nothing exciting else to report. :(

I wonder if this group of squall lines are associated with the sub 522 DAM trough that Fergie mentioned earlier, progged for around 3:00AM?

If so, maybe we'll get associated colder air wrapped up in and behind them?

Could very well be! Unfortunately I don't know enough about it but would make sense.

Temps are finally dropping has been at about 2.5 for hours and now fallen to 1.6 with a DP -1.

might be the cause for the intensity of showers..

And here in low level Quedgeley just south of Gloucester.. we have driving snow !  Yep - its heaving it down here with massive flakes that are sticking to everything

Must be hellish up on the Cotswolds !

Now, wheres that sledge ? (probably all gone by mid morning no doubt !)

Cheers !

John

p.s. Radar shows quite a large clump out west too  :D

All a bit too marginal for here. I expect the Cotswolds are getting a nice dumping and Salisbury Plain should see at least a dusting overnight. Exmoor and the Brecon Beacons should also be white on the tops I would imagine?

What a fun night that was, had one very very fun shower pass through, well it was actually a thunderstorm! Seen a fair bit of lightning tonight and an over head storm with 5/6 very big flashes and rumbles, this came with the most epic soft hail and sleet storm ive ever seen, even a few snow flakes mixed i, but only a few! The thing that got me and my mate, we drove this forest and there were trees down in random places and lots of debris and everywhere! We are 100% convinced that a tornado passed though, as it was all in small patches and everything was damaged! I am convinced! Either that or a very strong down burst! Definatly going more towards the tornado idea!
