Good luck to you all with the snow, still quite an interesting day here too with risk of thunder and lightning! Already had some hail about an hour ago, infact the hail was rather big too.

Your wrong my friend, sleeting outside my window right now in fact, the wet flakes all to easy to see mixed in with the rain!

Edit: and now it's gone back to rain/drizzle, certainly looking good for later if we're seeing sleet at times this early in the afternoon.

So is it wet flakes or sleet? Weston is the warmest place in North Somerset........surely not the first to see 'wet flakes' :)

Just had about a minute of hail about 10 minutes ago here in Weston, besides that, it's still fairly dark-ish and gloomy looking outside.

W COUNTRY CONT'D... where snow does fall this eve/night >100m, it may come down thick-&-fast under heavier showers, & rapidly start settling

Ian just said on twitter

W COUNTRY Sleet showers for some now. As colder (522DAM) air encroaches frm NW, showers will turn wintry more widely this eve, post-6/7pm on

I'm picking someone up from Bristol Airport at 20:30.

Hoping for some action whilst I'm up there as my home asl is only 84m so I'm not overly confident in seeing much at home,

A thing to remember, not many current charts at our disposal, will show precisely what is going on.

I tend to start looking at current observations from PWS's. WBFL will be drawn down in heavy showers, as the colder dam air arrives, so dew points and temperatures will probably be lower locally, than what the GFS or NMM show.
