Why do i have to be in Workington today, Egremont now looks a better place to see snow today.

Heavy snow and hail here for 10 mins at 6am. Covered the road. Made it slippy. Mucked my horses out set off for home again. Roads clear!! It just vanished. Don't mind too much as got the school run next over the fells.. but please snow over the weekend. My hubby is home with his 4x4.

Well i expected downgrades as thats always the case, but even im astonished by how bad they are we,ve gone from an all out snowfest next week to nothing at all in the blink of an eye....utterly pathetic performance from all the models, they just cant handle winter synoptics in this country....anyone with more knowledge than me know why this is.

'utterly pathetic performance' .....?   a bit harsh, they are the best tool with have, the reason they struggle with this country is we are tiny island with a huge land mass to the east and an ocean to the west, thats way harder to predict than the weather for say the U.S.

People need to the view the models for what they are, they offer a RANGE of possibilities, why do you think the METO output does not always match their model output.
